Bought a few angle gauges that were digital, all were 2 to 4 times more expensive than this analog gauge. Not one of the devices worked properly IMHO, always some issue with the digital devices to get a simple angle reading on my bandsaw and table saw. Decided to go old school and buy an analog device that is simple with no buttons , led display screens or batteries. This gauge is dead simple to use, place the device on my table saw blade or band saw table and read the angle, can not get more simple than that. Will it go down to .01 readings NO do I need my table saw adjusted to .01 of an inch NO. What I do need is a dead simple way to confirm my 45 degree cuts are 45 degrees with out getting irritating inconsistent results from a digital device with too many features that almost works most of the time. The overall value of this easy to use and read gauge is high considering the cost.

The needle swings freely and doesn’t get stuck like my old one. Tested it against a digital angle finder and found it to be very accurate. Magnet seemed to be able to hold the full weight of the tool. A little difficult to read the dial if your working in close quarters.

I purchased this tool to replace one similar but from a different manufacturer that was sticking. I started out looking at the digital angle finders but after reading the reviews, they all seem to indicate a problem with accuracy. This tool was easy to read and had the accuracy I was looking for. Starrett has been known for accuracy and quality tools for a long time. I have not been disappointed with this tool. It does all I need.

The white background is off by 2 degrees clockwise no matter how you orient or what level you use...but its still a MILLION times better than the cheap black ones with no counter weight!

I bough it because it says Starret. I have had the cheaper ones, and this may be a rebranded version of the same junk. However, it does say Starret, so there may be hope for some quality control. It agrees with a Wixey digital, without needing batteries. The mechanism is very smooth in rotation with no hanging up or binding. For the price I paid I can't complain

This angle finding device is used by me every day at work. I am a welder-fabricator and I use this tool for numerous tasks. It's Starrett and does the job very well. My only gripe is that the magnet is not as strong as I would like and the tool falls off my work if it moves a bit. I will buy some neodymium magnets and mill some holes into the flats of it , this should solve the problem. I just wish Starrett took this precaution in their manufacturing processfor this tool. Overall, it does what I need it to do.
