Have to admit, after initial trepidation and frustration, this thing is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. Has been running for a week with no hick-ups.I did give it a reserved DHCP address in the router, which can never hurt with these things. They tend to get confused when the IP address changes and StarTech support chat advised against DHCP period, but that's silly. The support over chat seems to be lacking, but they do try.As others have mentioned, the software is absolute crap. It looks like the worst sort of hobbyist Windows garbage from last century. It's also buggy, overly complicated and apparently loses all of its virtual COM port mappings every time it leaves memory. Yes, really; you have to reconfigure the thing every time. It also randomly exhorts that it should be run as an administrator. Tried that and had no effect. Oddly, it seems that the auto-start setting in the first menu is the thing that triggers this order. Currently have an alert box stuck that can't close, but it isn't affecting the COM port operation.Speaking of the COM port, it is running flawlessly on Windows 10, and haven't yet had it crap out. Will see how that goes, but five stars so far.UPDATE: Ran like a champ for three months. Then it was time to finally update Windows 10 and restart. Was not looking forward to it, due to the incredibly bad UI. Once the machine rebooted, opened the application to see no devices and no COM port mappings (of course). But then... I looked at my alphanumeric sign and it was updating. Amazing! Closed the crappy UI and won't worry about why until the next restart. Hopefully it managed to set itself up as a service, but hard to tell from all of the odd messages I got on trying to set that option. So still 5 stars, despite the -10000 stars UI. :)

You better have a knack for figuring things out on your own. The docs are minimally helpful. With my telescope mount, I could never get it to work with the device in TCP mode. Sketchy half-functional performance with mixed up messages and tons of comm errors reported from the device. I switched to UDP and it instantly worked perfectly with the telescope mount. I used static IP addresses for everything.

These work fine on a LAN where the send/receive devices are in the same subnet. They absolutely will not work over WAN/Internet/Cloud. Here is the response from customer service on that issue."Unfortunately using NETRS2321P across an internet connection is not something that is supported. NETRS2321P and our other Serial over IP devices are only intended for use within the local network."

Got this to bring my LiteTouch system to my network for access via HomeAssistant. Works perfectly, saved me needing to replace the system with a $70k Lutron upgrade.

Thought maybe there would be newer firmware loaded on this device, but nope! The device firmware is July 2014. Startech.com used to be the goto people (back in 2014) for devices like this. But they have failed to properly update their product to reduce the risk of network attacks and bugs that have been known for many years now. This will not work properly on a modern network (internal web pages won't load correctly, since they are circa 2014).I would highly suggest you stay away from this device, as support is non-existent on it, and they have failed to even provide any firmware updates, let alone hardware updates since 2014.

These have worked flawlessly communicating with my CNC metal punch equipment. It's nice to have at least one reliable piece of hardware in the shop. However, I have found that the "VCOM" software requires administrator permission on the computer in order to map this device as a COM port, and it will need to do so at each login. Also if the computer is not rebooted every week or so the driver seems to start malfunctioning.

Service and delivery were superb. Converter will not speak to a PLC in a form that Allen Bradley can interpret. Easier to get one that did, than write ASCII converting code.
