I have a Corsair 7000D airflow case. It has 4 USB 3.2 gen1 ports on the front header. But my Motherboard can only supply 2 of them. This card supplied the other 2 ports. It was recognized instantly, and windows found the driver by itself. It has 2 ports on the back of the card, but I won't need those. I am only using the internal header to connect to the front panel. It also has a Sata power connecter to supply power for the higher wattage charging standard of USB 3.0 (3.2 gen 1) It was inexpensive and works great.

I bought this to expand the capability of an old i7 computer system from 2009. The installation was straight forward and it works very well. I chose this model because it has an internal header to connect to a case's front panel USB 3.0 connector. This made a huge improvment in speed when moving large files from a USB 3 portable hard drive or memory stick I've always been very happy with Startech parts.

Put this into a 10 year old Dell XPS8100 that only had 2.0 using it for backup onto an internal WD hdd in an outside dock. The new ports took it from about 22mbs to a little over 100mbs. Also has a power input and header for extension ports which I used to add 2 more ports in front. Well-made card from a reliable company that's been around.

I got this to upgrade the USB 3 situation in my aging computer to take advantage of UASP, which my motherboard does not support.I have noticed a big upgrade in transfer speeds to external drives, especially the external SSD drive. Installation is easy if you are comfortable working inside of computers. Since I have been building them for over 20 years, no problems there.I use this in my Xubuntu box and it works flawlessly. I would not hesitate to get this for another computer, if I needed one.

I was looking to add USB 3 ports to my custom built that only supports USB 2. This card adds two external USB 3 ports as well as an internal USB 3 19-pin connector. Hooked it up to a Rosewill USB 3 card reader which provides a front USB 3 port which is very convenient. As expected speeds have much improved over USB 2. Windows 7 requires drivers to be installed which can be downloaded from the StarTech website. After one reboot everything worked fine.Pros: 19-pin USB internal connector. Two external USB 3 portsCons: Somewhat pricey

It arrived in one day in factory box. Contained StarTech expansion card, dvd for drivers, directions for installation and an extra low profile bracket for those who need one. I did. Installation was a bit tedious, but only because my pc (Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF) is very cramped inside. Installed it then realized I needed an extension cable for the internal power hook up, so I bought one at Micro center. ($14.95) It was also a StarTech brand. Snapped in the cable and then buttoned the pc up. Placed the dvd in the drive and couldn't figure out what to do. So I hooked up an external USB 3.0 external device and tested it. I copied a large folder of files to it and it took care of that very quickly. Can't say if it's as fast as the factory (now dead) ports, but it still flew! Directions were very clear I needed all the help I could get. When my 3.0 ports were out of commission my 2.0 ports still worked, but slogged along like cold molasses. Thanks StarTech.

I chose this card to use in Linux it was supposed to be compatible with Linux. It does work with Linux but does not run at full USB 3 speed. It is faster than USB 2. The problem may be with the old computer that can't deal with the high speed of USB 3. Works perfectly other than the speed.

Works flawlessly on Windows 10 without the need to install any drivers. I needed this card for my front USB 3.0 ports on my case because I accidentally bent the internal USB 3.0 pins on my motherboard. It worked perfectly and gave me 2 extra USB 3.0 ports on the back of my computer too. This could also be used to add one of those 5.25" optical drive blocks that have USB 3.0 ports on the front instead of an actual optical drive. The SATA port is a little tight at first. Might be a good idea to plug it in and unplug it a few times before installing the card to loosen it up a bit.

Uso Windows 7.

Not quite as fast as advertised but far better than USB 2.
