This is a high quality product that works well. I chose the 2 kayak version, and like the fact that the mounts are adjustable and the brackets will work properly no matter what the directions of your ceiling joists. The brackets must be screwed with bolts into joists. To do this, you really should have a stud finder tool (unless you happen to have no drywall or unfinished surface that makes this obvious). The only small issue with the product is that there is a slight play in the downtube so that if you only have one kayak in place, there is a slight lean in the direction of the weight which is not balanced out by the other kayak. This results in the tubes being parallel rather than slanted. But it still works well. The rubber cover on the tubes makes it feel very secure. It is easy to get down and up with one person. I think it also looks good in the garage, and it feels like it takes up almost no space since it is up over the vehicles and I need all my wall space possible. Recommended.

This absolutely does the job really well for two kayaks. So happy to have them out of the way yet, safe and dry in the garage. high quality, adjustable and just a great racking system. Install was easy but almost destroyed my arms. Found the studs, centered and all that but wish I had an automatic ratchet set.My only minor complaint is the gold rivets that you push in to secure the cross bars that hold up the kayaks. Two of them were a little wonky and I actually had to take them out, re install them and then put a popsicle stick to keep it raised so it works properly. I would recommend testing those out before installing so its not to late. after they were installed, it is nothing but a little elbow grease and muscle to get the kayaks up. I would suggest lifting kayak up on one end and then with a ladder, raise the kayak and keep the crossbar in your other hand. Once you have the kayak high enough get that crossbar on. Not real easy to be honest but I am sure others have better ideas.

This product really worked out well. Out of five stars, I would truly rate it a 6!!!! Easy to install and easily adjustable to work on different directions and easily accommodate the studs. Holds our 2 kayaks (1-12 foot, 1-8 foot) very well. Strongly recommend and would definitely buy again.

We needed more room in our small two car garage for another car. We didn’t want to get rid of our kayaks and these work perfectly. Quick and easy to put up and very sturdy. Our kayaks even have indentations where the oars normally sit when not rowing. We used those indentations as our measurement points and installed the bars on the ceiling at the same distance. This makes it even more secure since the kayaks sit on the bars at those indentations sites. There is also plenty of room for the oars to sit on the bars as well. It gave us another several feet to use in the garage once we had both kayaks on the ceiling. We used two sets of bars and faced them towards each other. I was scared that they would get bumped and fall off onto my car (this was a needless worry because they are secure, but just in case). The cross bars come off, so getting them down is a breeze with two people…one to hold up the kayak and one to take the bars off. I highly recommend these even if you have a lot of space. I gets your toys off the floor and gives you space! Btw, we still have to fix the light, so don’t laugh at our temporary fix.

As others have mentioned, the included hardware is absolute garbage. Do yourself a favor and buy quality hardware to mount this.After predrilling into my joists one of the two "lag bolts" included with the package snapped halfway through driving it home. At first I thought I might have caught the edge of the joist but after backing both out I realized that each of the lag bolts snapped in half.Luckily, I had spare lag bolts on hand and after securing the supports and hoisting the kayak, it stabilized very well.Definitely easy to install with the right hardware. The pieces fit great and the booms are long enough to hold my 34" wide BKC tandem kayak in place securely.The only other minor thing I would note is that the foam on the boom tore in a few places when hoisting it up into the rack. I added a pvc pipe over the boom to smooth that process which worked like a charm.I would easily give this product 5 stars if they included quality hardware that could actually secure this to a joist.

I recently installed the StoreYourBoard Kayak Ceiling Mount, and there are so many aspects of this system to love! One of the best features is its compact size, which makes it easy to take with you if you ever move. The greatest benefit, however, is how much space it saves in your garage or wherever you choose to mount it.I have two Hobie Lynx kayaks that weigh 50 lbs each and are 11 ft by 3 ft. Before installing this mount, I had them stacked in my garage, which took up valuable floor space. Now, thanks to this ceiling mount, my garage feels much more spacious. Installation was a breeze, and the system is rated to hold up to 150 lbs, which is more than enough for my 100 lbs of kayaks.Using the StoreYourBoard Kayak Ceiling Mount has also saved me from purchasing an outdoor mounting system, buying kayak covers, and worrying about sun and weather damage. Perfect job for getting my kayak off the ground and out of the way. Easy assembly once you have a ladder or steps for securing to the roof etc. considering buying another for my car roof box. Thanks

I'm not sure if I've ever taken the time to review something before, but these far surpassed my expectations. Premium product. Paint is good, welds are good, easy to set up, easy to adjust, padding on steel seems like it will last, lots of holes for adjusting height, can spin the mount 90 degrees to rack for another mounting option. Absolutely nothing to dislike about this product.

This is exactly what I needed. Easy to use and very sturdy as long as you mount it on the studs. I use it to store my Thule Cargo Box.
