This is the best non-tubular blacklight I've ever encountered. I have spent a long time trying to find a bulb that could compete with the tube blacklights of my highschool/college years, and until this bulb arrived I had my doubts that a true blacklight experience could be achieved without the tube technology. But this bulb definitely changed my mind! I don't know if it's true to say that it's bright, really, being black, but that which glows under its UV rays certainly shines like the sun. (Or I guess like an eerie, ghostly sun.)The bulb fits a normal light bulb outlet, and though I built a lamp for it, I have used it in my desk lamp a lot. And boy do things glow! I bought some glow-in-the-dark paint to be paired with this blacklight, and after only a few moments in its dark embrace, the paint stays charged pretty much all night. Additionally, from the far wall of my bedroom, everything that is white or the least bit fluorescent is super duper bright, and I love it!So far I haven't had any issues with the bulb in terms of fragility (or in any other regards, actually). I am in the midst of a move right now, however, so we will see how it fares by the end. Based on how solid and robust it feels in the hand, though, I have no doubts it will survive. And even if it doesn't, I'll probably just get another one of these.My one concern is that the bulb does get pretty warm. I was afraid of leaving it on for an extended period, at first. But then, after getting distracted by other things on more than one occasion and leaving the light on for hours at a time, it seems as though there's an upper temperature threshold that it doesn't go over. It's not melding the plastic it sits in, or anything. It might, however, low key melt some flesh, so be careful handling it after it's been on.So all in all, the best blacklight bulb I've ever bought! If you're into a black-lit experience, definitely get this bulb. Or a bunch. I feel like a whole house lit with these would be spooky as heck and I'm here for it.

This is a reasonably priced solution if you need a black light. It fits into a standard lamp socket and provides a decent amount of true "black light;" enough to show off dayglo colors and make white clothes glow that beautiful, deep blue. This light works a whole lot better than other "spiral" type "black light" bulbs I've seen.It's only 20 watt so don't expect the amount of light you'd get from a four foot tube but this is a whole lot easier to handle and to fit in a tight space. You should also plan to use it without any kind of lampshade. It's just not bright enough to penetrate. Use it in a clip on utility light with a reflector to focus the light and protect the bulb, or something similar.Handle with care, of course.I would give this light four and a half stars if I could and five it it was only a little brighter. Really, it's a good bulb.

bulb arrived fine & it works great, its nearly as powerful UV wise as my 24" blacklight tube style but with having similar wattages & cost this shouldn't be a huge surprise I suppose tho it does run quite a bit warmer than a 24" tube. I'm plenty happy with it, might buy another one. I would recommend. Also I have blacklight tubes & an LED blacklight bulb, what I don't like about the LED blacklights is they have too much 'ambient' light meaning they light up the space too much for my taste, they make things glow very well but the whole room is brighter than it is with CFL blacklights.

ordered 3 of these. one was DOA. company offered refund, but it's just not worth my time / effort to spend an hour getting to from the post office during the work day for $10 (as is the case for anyone that makes for $10 an hour). i would have appreciated them just sending replacement as companies often do for lower price items.we bought these to put in our porch lights during halloween.the bulb itself is not bad when it works. it does give a black light effect. it's fairly localized, but that has to do with the form factor of the bulb. the tube-form black lights usually have reflectors to maximize / aim the glow.

Muy buena intensidad de luz, se ve muy padre y levanta mucho los colores neon al igual que los blancos. Me encantó, sirve muy bien su objetivo y aun que solo lo compre como prueba de iluminación para una fiesta termine comprando otros 6 ;)

I purchased 3 of these bulbs at $12/piece which is an amazing deal when comparison shopping. I've setup a basement RC Car track for my son's upcoming birthday party and thought it would add a really cool element of fun to be able to race in the dark. In the picture I've attached, I'm only using two of the bulbs, one at each end of the room, and it's more than enough to get everything glowing, with just enough ambient light to keep things safe. The picture is a little dark and doesn't offer a perfect representation of the brightness of the bulbs, but it gives a fairly good idea. The greens are extremely bright, the pinks and whites are also well lit, especially considering that I'm using hockey tape. Clothing and box labels that better reflect the UV glow extremely bright, much like the green tape. There is also some glow-in-the-dark gel on the wall which after a while with the UV lights on, glows very brightly.I would highly recommend these bulbs. They work exactly as they should, are well made, use little energy, and are an excellent price.

el foco funciona muy bien cuando es de noche, hace que los colores blancos brillen perfecto para una fiesta. el unico problema que vi es que no alcanza a iluminar bien una habitacion grande de 5x4 metros pero por el precio vale la pena, ademas llego dos dias antes de lo planeado.

As i read from other customers before buying this product, the UV blacklight effect is nice and powerful for a bulb. It may be not as powerfull than a full blacklight neon, but it's cheaper. For those wanting to have a blacklight effect on a bigger space (i.e. bigger 20x20 room), i would recommended to have 2 bulbs each at the opposite of the room. I used it in my house and had white papers being bright white at near 20 feets from the bulb. I had concern it may arrive broke during shipment but it was intact. Shipping was fast. I'm satisfied and recommend this product.

Es bueno para un cuarto pequeño, por el precio está muy bien. Tal vez sea necesario evitar el paso de cualquier otra fuente de luz para que se vea bien el brillo de los objetos blancos
