My winch mount arrived in a couple of days. The parts were precision laser cut and the powder coating looks great and should last. Now to the part I didn’t like. The mount comes in four pieces and is bolted to the frame in two places on each side. It makes for a solid mount. The kit comes with flange bolts and nylon locking flange nuts, so no washers are needed. I have no problem with any of that. The brackets that mount to the frame use holes that are awkward to get tools into without removing the lower A-arm bolts. Still no problem. The issue is trying to wrench in the extra 1/4-1/3†of bolt through the nylon locknut. It is beyond awkward, even after I bought an extra set of ratcheting box end wrenches, and I spent a really long time getting it done. The mounting plate mounts diagonally, so the rope won’t pull straight from the bottom, especially with the height of the fairlead bracket that bolts to a front cross member. I’m still not sure whether I will feed the rope from the bottom, or turn the winch around and feed from the top. I couldn’t go any further with the installation because the fairlead that came with my winch has 4.75†bolt spacing and SuperATV uses 4.3†spacing for narrow spools and I couldn’t mount the fairlead.I pulled it all off and ordered a mount from the winch manufacturer, and it just plain didn’t fit the . So I contacted SuperATV by email (calling them goes to a recording telling you to use email) about using their fairlead and heard back from them late the following day. I ordered one and got it the very next day (great service from SuperATV and UPS). I took it out of the box and the fit was perfect, but there were no bolts to attach it to the mount. The bolts that came with my winch were, of course, wider than the holes in the new fairlead and the mount. I emailed asking how to attach, and went to get Allen cap screws at the local farm and ranch store. I got a much quicker reply this time, to the effect that bolts come with the winch and they would have to create a custom order and charge $35.00 to supply the two bolts. This is too long. Here is the bottom line: don’t expect to use this mount with anything other than their winch. Even if you do, bring a lunch or a power ratchet to deal with the extra long bolts.
