About this item

  • Perfect strings for Rockabilly, Bluegrass, Psychobilly, Country/Western, and more!
  • Fits most 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 7/8, and 4/4 scale basses.
  • 6 string options included in every pack. .170, .155, .130, .105, .095, .080 (sizes in inches)
  • 100% "synthetic gut" - nylon/kevlar construction to simulate the tone and feel of natural gut strings.
  • Please read the full item description below for even more information about this product.

This unique design has a super smooth area covering the top section of the fingerboard allowing for fast and pain free switching of notes with virtually no unwanted string noise caused by the friction of sliding your fingers.

The bottom area of the strings have a light to medium-soft texture that has been "spiral cut" into the string. This texture facilitates better gripping of the strings for lightning fast pizzicato playing, and drag triplets with with almost no effort. The strings "grab" the air and force it to move, producing more mid and low end tone when playing acoustically.

All of our nylon string sets come as a 6 string “bump” assortment (6 total strings of various gauge. See photos). Some players like thinner, low tension strings while others like thicker, higher tension stings. We offer a wide array of thickness and tension all in one package of strings! Our string sets include rubber dipped metal ends. NO KNOTS to come untied in the middle of your set! We are proud to be the only company offering this configuration.

Our strings sound great when played acoustic or amplified. They wont tear your fingers up if you need to play 3 sets in one night, and they stay in tune in hot/cold/humid/dry climates.

Perfect for Rockabilly, Psychobilly, Bluegrass, Country/Western, and much much more! The string sizes included in each pack are: .170, .155, .130, .105, .095, .080 (sizes in inches). If your bass has never had non-steel strings installed, please keep in mind that some modification of the tailpiece string slots, bridge string notches, nut string notches, and tuning machine string holes may be required. This is completely normal, and will not prevent you from switching to other string types in the future. Please measure your bass before ordering. If you are not confident making these adjustments yourself, please consult a professional luthier or more experienced bass player for assistance. These strings are not recommended for school orchestra students.

It does take a while to get used to the feel of these strings, but I think they sound and feel surprisingly 'gut-like'. Close enough for the money 'and' you get 'six' strings to experiment with. I chose the heaviest 4 of the 6 strings and put them on an old ply Christopher. However, I had to go through three tail pieces of different weights before I was able to get the right sound. The lightest tail piece did the trick. I also had a new bridge installed which was shaped to accommodate the larger gauge of the strings. The balance of volume between the strings is very even. If you slap, you’ll need to raise your bridge high enough to allow the 170 E string clear the fingerboard for a strong attack, otherwise you’ll get more clack than a defined note, as this string has 'a lot' of excursion. I really like the spiral texture that’s cut into the surface. It does feel similar to a gut string. Much more flexible than the Rotosound RS 4000 set I used prior. The feel is soft and comfortable and the sound is quite warm and pleasant. It took about 10 days for them to settle in and stay in tune. You can bow with them, but getting a good sound will require a bit more rosen. I don't bow much, so to me, it's not a big deal. All in all, I think you'll find that they're well worth the money...

POSITIVE : I wasn't sure that these strings were going to be to my liking after trying and NOT liking several other types of synthetic strings, but I was totally and delightfully suprised to find that they have a really nice, natural sound. I play traditional music (in Québec) and the very first night I used these strings at a local jam, several people, including a local luthier and professional upright bass player came up to ask me about my strings because of how nice they sounded. I also appreciate that I don't leave bleeding like I used to after overplaying my old metal strings.NEGATIVE : After a few weeks, the bottom "plug" of the A string came off (the rubberized covering frayed apparently) and I managed to replace it with a nut and some thin rubber; it's been fine ever since. Seems like the rubbery covering was at fault. Also, I find that the lowest string required me to do some adjustment to my bass setup as it does not have enough tension and is therefore not as bright and audible as the other strings.Really, really decent for 50$ and the set even included several extra strings (I can't remember which and am not where I can verify at the moment of writing this, but I think they were the D and G). And guaranteed for LIFE??? Amazing.

The strings I had on there made my fingers hurt after three hours of playing.. I can play these all day and they sound great. I put a pair on my Stagg bass and my acoustic bass both upright (double dass). Will buy again.

Definitely easier on the fingers but volume is way less than steel.

Love em, but I love the deluxe more. That is just my preference. As the description says: the gripmax has the grip end for the right hand and the deluxe has the grip on the entire string (more similar to a traditional gut). I feel like I become more complacent with the ease of the gripmax, whereas the deluxe I get a better hold on the note with my left hand. UBPU
