Guiding Scope Ring

SV116 Guiding Scope Rings Kit

Two fully metal 70mm guide scope rings are suitable for small and medium sized guiding telescopes; ideal for astrophotography for mounting a guide scope parallel to the main telescope.

Smooth Surface: all machined surfaces are smooth and flawlessly coated.

Adjustment Screws: The adjustment screws are large and easy to grasp and turn.

The soft tips of the adjustment screws securely hold the guide scope without marring its surface.

The guide scope is held securely enough that accidental bumps won't necessarily throw off the pointing

Mount the Guide Scope to the Top of Imaging Scope:

adjustable tube rings for astrophotography.Set of 2 guide scope rings for guide scopes between 43 to 70mm tube diameter. The guide scope rings allow a reliable and above all stable adaption of telescopes parallel to the main instrument. Most common use is astrophotography. With the knurled thumb screws, the guide scope is adjustable and you can centre a sufficiently bright star in the eyepiece or the the autoguider. You can also attach the rings to flat support surfaces like dovetail bars, and get a short adaption to your telescope.

Excellent machining and finishing. Would buy again if it appears at this price again. Fast shipping. My only issue is that the centering screws are way too long. True it allows use with smaller diameter tubes but it looks ridiculous with anything less than about 55mm barrel finders. Why would you use 70mm rings with a small diameter finder? I bought this because my existing finder mount would only fit a maximum 52mm diameter finder.Aesthetically the long screws, combined with the barrel shaped heads, protrude way too far out. It looks stupid. It was too easy to catch on a doorframe when moving the instrument and one screw bent. I wound up drilling out the screw holes, helicoiling them and replacing them with short SAE cap screws with flat Shear-Loc knobs.Svbony should sell at least one other size mount for smaller diameter finder barrels instead of just this one big one.It works well for finders and scopes with 60mm objectives. A 50mm finder? It's starting to look too big. Yes it works but it looks badly proportioned. If you care about machining and finish quality the aesthetics are important too. This ring mount with shorter screws, with flatter knobs works and looks great with my finder which has a barrel diameter of 64mm. Plenty of clearance for centering adjustment.Anything bigger than a 60mm short scope is too big for a small finder dovetail. Mechanically it may work but the small mounting area of the dovetail mount would likely damage whatever it's mounted on if the scope it's carrying is bumped in the dark.

Even more than photographic equipment, astronomical goodies tend to have high to ridiculous price tags that leave you wondering what justifies the price. Accessories such as the Sybony SV116 scope ring kit provide an affordable alternative without sacrificing quality. This kit arrives unassembled, so you'll need a metric Allen wrench to put it together. It is relatively easy to get the rings and base square by standing the base on end as you tighten the screws. The rings are solid aluminum castings with raised areas to provide additional threads where the screws pass through. The screws themselves are M5 with nylon tips to avoid marring whatever you mount in the rings. Once assembled, the mount is strong and solid. I purchased the kit for use with a 50mm Celestron RACI finder, and had to move one ring to an 8mm hole to provide the proper spacing for the indents in the finder tube. As for the holes, the diagram shows them as M6, M8,1/4-20, M8, and M6. The M8 holes have the common 1.25mm thread pitch, while the M6 threads appear to be the far less common 0.75mm pitch; M6-1.0mm screws will not fit. The M5 socket head screws that fasten the rings pass through these holes, so you likely will not be using at least one of them for anything else. I've purchased a few Svbony accessories and haven't been disappointed, especially since the very same items are often rebranded and sold at 2x the price or more.

It is perfect, good value and works so much better than others I have that are more expensive. Heavier duty and cushioned ends of holder screws.

Purchased this to utilize an older RACI finder on my telescope. Build quality is excellent for the price!

Well made and affordable ring set, but the dovetail bar is really narrow in Synta shoes. It works, but not very solidly.

Getting the rings aligned to the dovetail base was a bit awkward. If the base had a shallow slot to index the rings, it would have been much better.Other than that, it was fine. The nylon buttons at the end of the clamping screws is a good feature.
