How To Collimate Telescope With Cheshire Eyepiece:

The view through the Cheshire eyepiece during the collimation will differ between telescopes. For fast telescopes (f5 and below), it will be little off-center, and for the slow telescopes (f5 and above), the view will be more centered and easier to collimate.

1.The goal here is to center the primary mirror reflection in the secondary mirror and reflection from the Cheshire with the secondary mirror.

2.To achieve that, you have to use the adjustment screws on the secondary and primary mirrors while looking through the Cheshire eyepiece collimator tool.

Seems well made. However I’ll reserve the right to rubber stamp the 5 star review until I verify the accuracy on my scope after a night of viewing. Why you ask? The purpose of my review is to speak to how insanely fast I got this thing. Literally the same day. And yes it has no instructions- but for this price there are thousands of pictorials and vids explaining how to use non laser collimators, that you can use. So IF this tool is spot on, then it’s a bargain and I will verify the 5 star review later. But I have nothing other than an off center laser and Cheshire cap to compare at this point. Construction is of billet aluminum with a grub screw ( Allen wrench head) for the 45 degree. I’ll assume that’s been set at the factory. The metal cross hairs look spot on.Not red flags so far.

I bought this to replace a laser collimator due to being a bit easier to use. Ends up, collimating by eye was easier than either. Leaving a five star though because the quality is actually pretty good and the collimator is fairly sturdy. Also love the steel crosshairs over the thin copper cross hairs. Overall product feels good to use.

I do like the eyepiece however be aware there is a nipple on the exterior cylinder that inserts into the focuser. It scars your focuser wall. I ended up filing it off.

My laser collimator was driving me crazy - would collimate with the laser, pull it out, and even if I put it back in with the same orientation, the laser would not show centered the second time. So I bought this collimator to use with the laser for fine tuning and verification and it works very well in my 10 inch dob.

El colimador es de muy buena calidad, cumple su función de forma adecuada y en conjunto con un colimador láser te permiten dejar al 100 tu telescopio reflector. Las instalaciones de cómo usarlo las pueden encontrar en internet. Este tipo de colimador son más útiles para alinear el enfocador y el espejo secundario del telescopio. Recomendado sobre todo si haces astro fotografía.

I used this to collimate the secondary mirror that came all messed up on my Orion StarBlast 6i IntelliScope. It saved the day!Far better than the included collimation cap.Used together with the svbony laser collimator I now have full control over the full collimation of my scope from back to front.

Buen producto por el precio, pero los materiales no son de la mejor calidad, la cruz al fondo del cheshire es muy delgada y con cualquiera golpe o lo que lo toques por accidente se pueden doblar y perder su eficiencia, por otro lado el reflejo en la cuña de 45° realiza un astigmatismo que es complejo realizar la alineación tanto del secundario como del primario en los Newton; en conclusión cumple pero no te da ese plus para realizar una alineación al cien de los espejos.
