About this item

  • 100% Faux Leather
  • Imported
  • PATENTED DESIGN: SWAX LAX created the first and only patented, shock-absorbing, bean bag style lacrosse balls to make learning to play lacrosse safer, faster, and more fun. SWAX LAX is an Official Training Partner of US Lacrosse.
  • SAFER: While still regulation size and weight, SWAX LAX balls are softer and absorb some of the force of impact. This helps beginners fear the ball less while learning to catch.
  • FASTER: Learning to catch is faster if you are not constantly chasing a hard rubber ball across the field or down the street. SWAX LAX balls don't bounce as high or roll as far as reglation balls, so you do less running and more throwing and catching.
  • MORE FUN: Less fear, less frustration, and faster improvement. Pick your favolite color or pattern and get started today!
  • VERSATILE: Seamlessly switch between SWAX LAX and regulation balls - it's hard to tell the difference. Do indoor cradling and stickwork without immediately breaking something. Pass and catch in the gym without the chaos of hard rubber balls bounding everywhere. Practice alone against any spring-style commercial rebounder.

About the Inventor and Founder, Laura Gump

Laura Gump Founder SWAX LAX

Laura Gump seized on a passion for the sport of lacrosse by founding two highly successful companies: Swax Lax Lacrosse Camps and Clinics and SWAX LAX. Laura is a longtime youth lacrosse coach who currently coaches at Kent Place School in Summit, New Jersey and at her own company, Swax Lax Lacrosse, which, for more than 12 years, has offered camps and clinics for roughly 1,000 K-6th grade girls and boys every year. It was her experience coaching new players and very young players — as well as accidentally hitting her own 4th grade daughter in the face while teaching her to catch in the backyard — that she came up with the idea for a new product that she turned into another business.

Swax Lax lacrosse training balls are the exact same weight and size as a hard rubber lacrosse ball, only a lot softer. After less than four years, Laura’s patented product is now seen as a game-changer for the sport and is hailed by coaches, players and parents because it’s the perfect training tool for new players of all ages enabling them to learn stick skills with more confidence and less fear. The balls are also ideal for indoor training since the balls don’t bounce or harm hardwood gym floors. More than 800 stores in the US, Canada, and the UK now carry the product, and teams at all levels, including Duke and UVA, use the balls at their practices.

Additional Products Created by Swax Lax

The Pro-Grip shares all of the same features as the original ball, but it uses a fabric with a grippier texture, giving advanced players the extra precision they need for throwing and shooting.

The Goalie Kit consists of 3 numbered balls so goalies can use the numbered panels for specific goalie training drills that force goalies to improve their ability to track the balls in the air.

lacrosse power weights, lacrosse stick weights, lax training weights, shaft weights, stick weights

The SWAX LAX Power Weights is a weighted device that easily fits on the head of almost every type of lacrosse stick (not warp heads). Use to strengthen lacrosse-specific muscles and improve stick work. Doesn’t interfere with shaft or pocket when passing, catching, scooping, dodging, or shooting.

This has been a fantastic training ball for my 9 and 7 year old who have been playing lacrosse for three years. It has little to no bounce, super durable (my boys can be very rough) and has lasted us for the past 1+ years. It is heavy enough to break a window though so keep this in mind. The ball is bright orange in color and has really not faded at all which makes it easy to find. Value for money is spot on. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a great size and weight, but does not bounce or roll as far as a normal ball. It is very expensive, but worth it when you are limited on space and still need to practice.

Got this for my son so that when he is in the house he can practice his cradling. This Swax ball is wonderful, it's soft on the outside so not to break anything while being as heavy as a regular lacrosse ball. I don't worry about him breaking anything in the house with this ball.

My kiddo is going to try lacrosse out this summer. I was trying to teach her whatever I remember from a zillion years ago, but practice balls are still bouncy (and still hurt). My partner got this on a whim and it's great, the right size and weight for throwing, catching, and cradling... But filled with sand so much much much less bounce. Now I'm (somewhat) spared the indignity of my wife laughing at her near-elderly husband hustling his fat butt across a field chasing a ball when I'm playing catch with my kid. I give this thing 2 lacrosse sticks up!

I purchased this ball to allow my daughters to throw in the backyard without damaging our vinyl fencing. After two trial runs and afew errant throws, it appears to live up to the task. It is alot more flexible than a standard lacrosse ball, but still throws and catches close enough to one to make it an effective training tool. I would caution against using it by concrete though, as the leather-ish cover does appear to be subject to scuffs - if that matters to you.

I bought 2 of these to teach my 7 year old son how to play and I wish we had these when I was playing in high school. So far we have gone out twice to play catch, learn the basics and do some wall ball. They get a 5 start rating so far. They feel like the real thing, no tears so far even when I have thrown a few zingers and most of all we aren’t spending 99% of our time chasing after balls that bounce and roll all over the place. For any parents or people in general thinking of trying these here is a little extra info. When I was in high school in Florida we lived near an outdoor racquetball court open to the public. All 4 walls and the ceiling were made of cement so it was the perfect spot to solo practice and play wall ball. I don’t live there anymore so I recently drove all over the place looking for a good wall to practice on but couldn’t find one that met the following criteria (flat, no windows, on grass, closed in area so the ball won’t bounce far away). I had the Swax Lax balls for a while and one day we were at a school playground when I noticed it had a big, flat wall with no windows, it was a semi enclosed area but it was on a cement outdoor basketball court. A regular ball would bounce a hundred miles but I remembered I bought the swax lax ones so we went and tried it out. PERFECTION!I was able to teach him how to throw against the wall and the swax lax ball would hit the wall, make a small bounce and roll just enough to get back to the thrower. This let him practice repetitive throwing without extended breaks chasing down the ball. I wanted to see how durable the balls were so I took some really hard shots at least 40 times in 2 outings so far and they have held together. We plan on going out a lot more and I will try to remember to update my review good or bad. I am about to buy 2 more tonight because we almost lost one to a storm drain yesterday today.I have not tried the other bean bag brand or the water one yet but may one day.

I don’t reviewed but this ball was one of those rare times I purchased something and it was everything I ever wanted something to be. Lacrosse balls are basically death spheres when a 6 year old is involved so I was looking for something different to help teach my son. Teaching a kid Lax with a tennis ball seems like it’s more time consuming than necessary due to how light the balls are. I found these Swax balls and they are exactly what I hoped for. They weight the same as a lacrosse ball but are not nearly as scary getting thrown around by an out control 6 year old when compared to the sheer terror a real lacrosse ball creates. Because the balls weigh more than tennis balls my son improved dramatically in catching, throwing and scooping almost immediately. As an added bonus the Swax ball is basically a large stuffed hackysack and because of that it does not roll forever when my son misses a catch. The amount of time this saves the kid from endlessly running after the ball is a subtle yet powerful benefit. The Swax balls make for a very efficient backyard short and long toss. This is the perfect ball for beginners or just people who want to wreak less havoc with a lacrosse ball.

Kids love to collect these and there is a good variety of designs. High quality, my kids have been throwing this against walls and trainers for months and still the ball hasn't broke or torn.

This ball is fantastic. Great quality. Must have for lacrosse players learning to play the game. It's also much softer than a lacrosse ball for the early days.

This ball is a must for your kid to practice. The game balls bounce way too much and very easy to lose.

Our son is starting lacrosse and wanted to practice his ball handling indoors. the regular lacrosse balls are hard rubber with high bounce. this will give you similar feel without the bounce for indoor.Very durable and well loved.
