I installed on a '68 Square Back. Not sure if there is more clearance on a bug but it is tight.Fit like it was supposed to and worked good. If I had any recommendation is that it would probably work better on a dune buggy/sand rail maybe Beetle. It was easy to install and looks good too.

Would rather have the OEM style boot, but could not find them. These arrived in a couple days and fit like expected. The one thing I was impressed with is the hardware kit comes with some solid screws and lock nuts. The lock nuts to me are simply better than OEM because you can stop tightening them as soon as they are tight enough. The non lock nots require either lock tight or you tighten until they are tight which squeezes and distorts the rubber boot. The accordion design is growing on me. Perfect for any street car, maybe not so for someone like me doing a restoration wanting the OEM look underneath the car where only I will see it and know its there. Cheers on the decent hardware supplied.

Looked at several boots on Amazon plus other locations. Decided on Empi Boots for the following reasons. 1. They had 9 bolts and nuts on each one, some only had 6. 2. The straps were wide and were able to be tighten with a screw driver or socket, some were not as wide and needed a special tool to install. 3. Over 50 reviews and had a 4 plus star rating. With the axle perpendicular to the transmission, they were a lot easier to install then I thought they would be. Be sure and push boot towards transmission a little when tightening small clamp and top off oil. Some reviews said the rubber didn't last long, at this time I can't say. The rubber looks good and seemed thick to me.Don't forget if you raise the back of your bug up from other then the axle, the boots will hit the frame and could damage them over time.

Installed boot on a 1967 vw bug. This stopped the leak of trans oil. Take your time with installation. I used some oil resistant silicon where each side mated and on the ends. Just a little to help seal. No leaks after install. Don't forget to top off your transmission with oil after you put boot on. I put the seam/ flange towards the front on car. Keep safety in mind when you do this job. I jacked up car removed wheel and put support under to secure the lift.
