These rods are heavy and very smooth and polished. The ends are professionally cut and finished. Other vendors on Amazon sell disappointing products but THESE are top notch.

For stainless steel, this is very soft. I was able to easily cut it with a dull hacksaw, file it with a hand file, and drill it easily with a standard drill bit and no lubrication. In my experience, stainless steel is typically much harder, or work hardens very quickly. This is definitely not brass, as 260 brass is yellow, not silver. It also does not seem to be plated, as it has a uniform color throughout.That said, this material is fully non-magnetic (not a great test for stainless, but we do what we can) and worked well for my application.If you absolutely must have stainless steel, I would suggest a known source. If you just need a 1/4" round metal rod that is not as soft as aluminum, this works well. It just may or may not be stainless steel.

Impressed with the rods. Nice satin finish. Magnet test confirmed it's high chromium, low nickel content indicative of 304. Will purchase more.

I ordered these because I only needed the one time use out of them and they did the job!! It could have been worse that's for sure!! That saying 'you get what you pay for'!? Well I could have gotten better but I couldn't afford to and for what I paid they definitely did the job and could have been a lot worse!!
