So far, i have only used with pla filament but really works nice. Makes the assembly so much easier and professional looking. I use my soldering iron to slowly push in the insert.

Make your holes 0.15-0.2mm larger than the body (not the pointy parts) of the insert. You can press the nose into the part by hand and it holds it while you get your soldering iron around. Not sure this is a great value vs buying in bulk, but it gets you a few sizes to try. Next time I will probably order just M5 and M3 as they seem to be the ones I actually use.

These things are great for adding attach points to PLA printed projects. It’s a good idea to practice on a few pieces of material prior to use on finished items. Hole size should be slightly larger than diameter of screw and make sure you have plenty of material (>5mm) around the edge of the hole for stability. Don’t overheat! I’d recommend using an old solder iron or well used tip for placement - not the one you will be soldering electronic components with.

Wanted to try these out in 3D prints, was pleasantly surprised at how much torque they can hold. The tensile strength is impressive. First project was a 3D printed wind generator and had it humming, didn't even question the strength of the inserts.If you do plan to print these I sizes them at or .005" under the OD of the insert. Don't forgot most printers print holes .005-.010" undersized already and too small a hole will cause excess oozing.
