***UPDATE*** after, 19 days the lopper is still going strong! Recently, I used it to remove limbs from a cedar tree and cut down other small saplings (Pine Tree, Sweet Gum). ********I purchased the anvil lopper to help with trimming and pruning. My yard has a mixture of dead and live trees as well as some dead branches.I did a quick test run to clear a small walking path. I was able to quickly cut vines, and trim small Crape Myrtles and lower hanging limbs.Score Card, (as of 10/10/24):Pruning and Cutting Ability: 10/10It quickly trimmed 1-2†limbs and smaller diameter trees Also, the looper cut a thicker branch pretty well.Handleability: 8/10 (based on 5-10 minutes of use)The lopper remained closed as I walked to different areas. Also, for a woman (I’m 5’4, active lifestyle), it was not exhausting to hold nor carry. It did take a little adjusting, but the grips help with positioning. It reaches well, so I can avoid stepping in areas with thicker brush or vines.I would definitely recommend adding to the toolset, and it’s reasonably price for the amount of load it can handle.

Used it for cutting down hanging tree branches, some slightly over 2", and reducing the pile to fit in the trash can. Super effective and easy to use. Didn't have to use a lot of force to cut the bigger diameter branches. Glad I bought it. Thumbs up.

After busting my fingers on a pair of loppers from one of the big box stores too many times, decided it was time for a new and better pair. With so many great reviews, settled on this model from Tabor Tools. I wish I had bought them a lot sooner. They are SHARP right out of the box and cut like butter on smaller branches. I've used them to cut green branches even larger than the jaws of these can handle by cutting from both sides. They are fabulous. When you pick these up for the first time, you can feel they are well made. High-quality materials and fabrication. They are a great value. Highly recommended.

Great value for the 💰 money, they are sharp, easy to clean and have a long reach. The one drawback is they are a bit weighty, but can definitely get the job done.

This is an awesome anvil lopper! I have been clearing a field where hundreds of jack pine trees have popped up over the past 10 years. I want to keep it a field not a forest. This lopper proved to be the best tool to make that happen along with a Makita battery powered hand pruner for larger trees that this lopper can't get a bite into. I've been cutting the trees off at the base right at ground level. I've cut over 1,600 trees so far. If the jaws of this lopper can grab the trunk, then I can cut it down. The larger trees take a few bites but the tree comes down quickly. No stumps to trip over. The blade is still very sharp. The handle is strong enough to handle the big cuts with no issue. I would definitely buy another if this wears out. I keep the hinge points lubricated to help with friction wear. No need to look further for a great operating and lasting lopper.

After using a very short lopper (14-16 inches?), it was time for a real one. Had a tree come down and getting all the branches clipped was much easier with a full size lopper. I may have gone a bit longer in retrospect, but this 28 inch model does the job well. Quality construction is apparent. Blade comes very sharp and with limited use so far, everything appears to be holding up great. Large branches up to about 1.5 to 2 inches are the max.

First, a little background on my prior/previous purchases. In the last 15 years, I've been through just about every big box store brand loppers both bypass and anvil. Every bypass lopper I've owed has ended up with the same issue; try and cut something too thick and they turn just a little sideways and inevitably bend just enough to cause a gap between the blades rendering them useless. Anvil loppers in my opinion are WAY better in this regard as long as you don't mind the occasional crushed vs cleanly sliced limbs. They offer more power and generally seem to handle tough wood like Mesquite, Anaqua/Sandpaper Trees and Texas Ebony (rock-like) better. Even these however have had a serious issue with the head being able to handle more than the flimsy handles can take and I either break the handles or just give up and chainsaw the limb. Enter the Tabor Tool GG12.My 80+ yr old dad told me a while back when he came over to visit and gazed upon my graveyard of broken, bent or worn out loppers, "Son, you should have done it right the first time and bought you some Tabor tool loppers" Well, I'm a firm believer that with age comes wisdom. I was a little hesitant to spend the extra funds on these but looking over my death pit of dead loppers and figuring how much money I've spent over the years, I figured, maybe ole' dad has a point. So I plunged here on Amazon (because no local store sells them) and got them about a week ago. Well, this morning I got up and one of my Mesquite trees on my property had split. I thought, here's a really good chance to put the Tabor loppers to the test. If you're from Texas and you've ever dealt with Mesquite, you know, they can make a Stihl chainsaw cry. When I brought out my brand new loppers, my neighbor was like, "What are you gonna do with those silly things, get and estimate?" I just smirked and went to work. 30 minutes later, I had destroyed everything but the biggest parts of the mesquite trunk and it was (dare I say it) easy with these loppers. I am beyond impressed at not just how easy these things cut through 2-3 in mesquite branches but also how cleanly for an anvil cutter. Not only is the head strong and sharp and cuts like a hot knife through butter but it has the handles to match; something I've never found in an anvil cutter before. Before it was all said and done, the neighbor said, "OK, what the heck are those?" He looked and said, I'll be getting me a pair. Well done Tabor..Gonna have to replace more of my yard tools with your stuff.

After using both anvil and loppers, I find the anvil stands up to abuse better. Loppers tend to spread and become useless, but about all you can do is chip the blade on the anvil to break it. This one is quite sharp and it makes for easy cutting.
