When we bought a house, I took pride in purchasing myself a new top of the line lawn mower. In doing that, I wanted to maintain it as best as possible. I’d read online about regular oil changes and maintenance based off of hour use so decided to get this. The install is incredibly easy. I am by no means a novice when it comes to handy work - however, I am very very new to anything engine related. The instructions along with a couple other online sources made this install very easy and straightforward and it works like a charm. Allows for RPM viewing while engine is running and maintains proper hour usage to assist with maintenance. It was easily mounted into the plastic shielding of the mower but could also be mounted to metal with the right method and tools. For such little cost, this item is invaluable to keeping equipment in top shape.

This is a surprisingly simple device, and I enjoyed using it.By default, it is set to "1 spark event per revolution" which is correct for most lawn mowers, DESPITE them being 4-stoke engines.Because they have the magnet (which creates the spark) on the flywheel, the spark is created once per revolution on both 2-stroke and 4-stroke small engines.Just coil the end of the wire around your spark plug lead. Make about 5 loops, and check the display screen. I recommend finding a way to keep the wire tightly coiled. Maybe use some tape or a couple of zip ties.I have only used it for a few minutes in total doing diagnostics on my mowers to confirm RPMs. I have not use it as an hour meter as I do not want to permanently mount it.For less than $15 it's an impressive tool, but it's resolution is only about 40rpm. So jumps from like 2960 to 3000 rpm, but the true RPMs could be anywhere from 2940 to 3020.A pretty insignificant margin of error, but worth mentioning.

I tried getting this to work on my JD X300 tractor, tried every setting it had and nothing worked. It has been returned. The only thing I DID like about it was that the internal battery was a standard 2032 and was replaceable. Other tachs of this size and style had a non-replaceable LI battery.

Overall I give this a three star.. I started with a 5 star and took one star off because there is no shut off switch and to replace the battery you have to un-mount it to change it. It is constantly on which will shorten battery life. Hopefully I can get at least one year per battery.I took another star off because the instructions are not very good. Other than that the product works as described and I am satisfied.I see some complaining about the unit jumping all around while using the RPM reading. When I wrapped the wire around my spark plug wire I also super glued it to keep it good and tight. I am using this on a Craftsman GT5000 with a 26HP Kohler engine twin cylinder.

I purchased this meter to adjust governor on a Honda HRX four stroke lawnmower. I set the meter per instructions to 03 (fires every other revolution) what I thought a four stroke should be set at. It read twice the actual rpm (using another tachometer for comparison). I thought the meter was not “remembering “ the 03 input and was defaulting back to original setting.Linda from Timorn contacted me and worked with me on the problem; turns out 02 is the setting that this tachometer should be set at for a four stroke engine.It now is working great.This is a very good tachometer and hour meter at a very reasonable price with Timorn giving excellent customer service!Just remember if 03 setting doesn’t work for your four stroke engine, set it for 02.

This is the second one I bought, both installed in few minutes on four stroke single cylinder dual purpose motorcycles (DR650 & XT250). They are cheap but work well, they also are sturdy, legible and accurate. Only issue for motorcyclists riding at night using this tacho is the absence of back light in its screen.Otherwise, if not mounted on handlebar as an inboard tachometer, it is still a valuable gauge to use in the garage for tuning carburetors when your vehicle doesn't have one.Another positive aspect is the fact it does not need to be connected to the battery, it has its own lithium button battery, accessible when replacement is needed. A couple of minutes after shutting the engine, this tacho is doing the same, to preserve its battery.

Excellent piece of kit. Ideal for a home mechanic,easy to attach,personally I coil the spark lead using a little electrical tape.Works a treat

Easy to set up and great product for the money. The rpms fluctuate a little when running but still very accurate. I used it on my 110 cc and 125 cc dirtbikes. It even worked well on my companies forklift.

Prodotto carino robusto e ben fatto. Ne ho comprati in tutto 3 per delle vespe. Ho modificato il filo aggiungendo alla fine una pinzetta di metallo con la quale evito di attorcigliare il filo intorno a quello della candelae e posso attaccarlo a qualsisi punto della carrozzeria. La rilevazione é precisa.ottimo acquisto.
