The Taco 009 is designed for a wide range of residential and light commercial higher-head/lower-flow water circulating applications. Typical uses include hydronic heating, radiant in-floor/panel heating and closed-loop solar heating systems. The Stainless Steel 009 can be used in higher-head/lower-flow heat recovery, open-loop solar heating and light commercial domestic water recirculation systems. The unique replaceable cartridge contains all of the moving parts and allows for easy service, instead of replacing the entire circulator. Pump works as designed, replaced a TACO 009 cast iron with this stainless. When I installed my hydronic system I was not aware that I should use stainless. Now, several years later, I found out the hard way that open hydronic systems need stainless pumps even with the use of corrosion inhibitor. This pump was easy to install it had the exact same dimensions as the old cast iron. Have several TACO pumps and all performed fine over the last 10 years.

Barely lasted a year. Bearings went out. Started making a loud grinding noise.

Perfect fit though only good for five years. Tyco items are usually pricey and seem overly complicated for the purpose.
