I bought this with the intent of using it with a low, wide pot, but the metal clip it comes with is useless, and the thermometer basically just fell sideways. I thought of returning it, but searched the internet and found a 'hack", and purchased the following silicone clip:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089KSFY8PWith that attached to the pot, the thermometer works wonderfully, and I can read the temp good enough (would be nicer if the readout was brighter). Temperature seems accurate, compared to similar probes that I own.I highly recommend the clip, which comes with several different-sized slots for different probe thicknesses.

Been using a Taylor Stainless steel candy thermometer for over 63 years. I have four of the Stainless steel models. They are accurate and worth every penn. I'm getting more senior than not and it's becoming harder to read the mercury across the pot. Because it's a Taylor I bought their model 983915 Digital thermometer. Making candy needs to be a very temperature sensitive issue. When you need exactly 234 degrees, you need exactly 234 degrees. This one reads 4 degrees high at 234. And 2 degrees high at boiling water, 212 degrees. The clip that holds the shaft to the pot is useless. One touch of your spoon while stirring causes the thermometer to jump out of the pot onto the stove. You dont want to be messing with a thermometer missle in the middle of stirring a hot batch of candy. My encouragement is to not buy this product, go back to the old reliable Taylor Stainless steel candy thermometer and maybe get some new glasses to see across the pot. My new thermometer now rests at the bottom of the kitchen garbage can. Taylor company you need to fix this. It is not representative of your products I have been using since 1962.

Digital area fogs up and can't read temperature. Will not stay attached to side of pan. Dangerous.

the temperature doesn't immediately update - lags a few secondsDisplay is awesome and clip works well for various depths of pans
