Worked great! Just what I needed! Something that was cheap that I only use a few times a yr.

Gret solid tool for planting bulbs in your garden. It has a thick coat of paint to protect it from rust, and it can dig a bulb hole in seconds, even is hard dry soil. Be careful when you use it with your drill, especially in hard soil. You need to hold tight to the drill and brace yourself as the drill can kick back on you. It's not the bit but rather the hard soil and drill torque that kicks in.

Planting bulbs or plans is now a breeze. My husband was so shocked. He had no idea that such a device was made that so easily fit into our drill!

The large one was difficult to use due to the stem that goes into the electric drill. It would pop out. They are a great idea for soft soil.

I can only state from my experience based on the purpose I purchased it for and that was to penetrate wet & sand ground in the search for Indian artifacts. This is my new favorite method of bringing up arrowheads with no damage to them. I’ve been using the 3 inch one which pulls items up without breaking them. It’s prefect for sandy or wet soils. If you’re purchasing these bits for planting I would assume that you already know that the ground is going to require either moistening of the soil or loosen prior. Hard ground or clay soils are going to an issue because it’s going to require a steady strong upper body to maintain the downward twist of the bit as you’re applying the down pressure. The looser the soil the easier it will be.For the purpose of my purchase I’m more than pleased with this product. We’ve used it for almost a month now and haven’t noticed any damage but once again we’re not drilling through rock either.

Excellent tool. Great for large holes too! Use a variable speed drill and start slow! When you hit a rock, reverse the direction-and it likely will pull the rock with it. Very impressive!

I used the auger drill for placing fertiliser spikes, easier and faster that using a hammer. Just make sure you have a good grip on your drill with both hands and feed it slowly otherwise it will operate just like a screw. If this happens stop and reverse the drill and start again. As you are drilling pull up several times to clear the hole. Small rocks aren't a problem if you are feeding slowly but be ready to take your finger off the trigger or it will try to twist your arms off. Practice makes perfect. PS the 24" version worked best for placing fertilizer spikes. I also purchased a 9" version which was too short. Great for bulbs though.

The auger was supplied without the drill. It is just like a piece of rod without the drill. In the picture there is a drill attached to the augur . But in the user manual they are suggesting to use electric drills. Amazon should refrain from advertising such vendors.

Great Product, but easy to break when using it in the rocky soil, had to do on slow speed.
