Only motor/controller like this on the market. Works well. Good price. I used it on an older small metal lathe . Had been looking for a long time before I found this unit,

I replaced standard motor on my excelsior latheWith this variable speed motor. Installation was seamless. So far is working great.

It works very well and is built good, I used it to power my planer indeed rollers and it does a beautiful job.

I put this on a jet 1014 wood lathe. It had instructions for drilling mounting holes, which were fairly good, but the shaft length is a little short to get pulleys aligned perfectly. I had to adjust the spindle pulley location which rendered the spindle locking pin useless. You can make and put in a longer pin, but it never alluded to this in the instructions. The motor itself is.adequate for how we use the lathe... all in all, it's low speed torque could be better (the speed control board electronics are very basic and could be improved quite a bit to increase low end torque)

Had to deviate from the instructions a bit. Original Delta motor pully was too small for the new motor shaft so had to use the supplied pully instead. Also added a double pole switch to allow for reverse operation. Works great.

I would have given the upgrade 5 stars if it would have lasted more than a year, and customer service would have fixed the problem, I made several attempts to get support, but I always got the run around because I bought thru amazon instead the store.

I didn't read the directions and I had it installed in under 30 minutes. I also installed a digital tachometer, and on the lowest pulley speed, I am getting a range of 480-1900RPM. I can't see needing to change the belt for speed adjustments at all.

I opened the box to find instructions which I hoped would be a simple change of the motor on my Jet 1014 Lathe. NOT. There is a mounting plate, but that will not work with my Lathe. I'm told that I can use my old plate but must drill new holes. I'm fairly handy but this is no simple task even for me. There is a template that requires three new holes be drilled in the original plate. I cut out the template and secured it to the original plate and even has a friend look at it to be sure I had positioned it correctly. Then used a center punch so I could start the drill properly. A paper template is useless as it is too easy get the position wrong which is what happened. OK instructions say I might have to file the hole some to make the bolts fit. I would gladly paid more money for a plate that would fit my lathe!Well anyway, almost no way to file these holes. I spend hours getting proper holes so the old plate mounts on the new motor! So now I find a place to mount the new switch and get that done. Everything looks good so it's time to see how it runs. I turn it on and wait for it to start turning and after a minute it does start. BUT, It is rotating backwards! DC motors do this but I have no clue how to change the polarity. There is nothing in the instructions about this at all.I'm sorry but this is going back and I will buy a Jet motor.
