What Is TDS And Why Should You Care
TDS = Total Dissolved Solids, which is any salt, metal or mineral in the water. The lower the TDS level in the water, the more efficiently your bodys cells can use the water. Conversely, higher TDS levels can indicate water that is more difficult for your body to use and has more contaminants that can pose health risks.

I bought this because i didn't get a TDS meter with my zero pitcher. I thought it wasn't working when i first tried it because it said my filtered water has 0, and it had been almost 3 months of using that particular filter, but then i tested it on my tap water and it was around 150 so it does work! My filter is just lasting longer than I thought it would lol. Really good price too, I'm happy I got this one.

I've started to learn how to service my own in-home reverse osmosis water system, as the company that used to do it was charging increasingly large amounts of money for something that really couldn't be that difficult.The only way to know, though, whether the $100+ membrane needed to be replaced was to measure the TDS (total dissolved solids) of the RO water vs our tap water.This is a simple and basically foolproof tool to accomplish that. It works quickly and gives you clear, unambiguous readings. It just saved me over $100 this time out. And I'll know for sure when I actually DO need to spend that on a new part. I'm very happy with it.

The pen works great the only thing I would wish they add to it is a EC chart break down. You will have to look that up and print it out. Besides that it's a great value for the price you pay. The LCD screen is easily legible. The battery life is also great.
