In theory, this should be a great cone for your dog. It does what it supposed to do, doesn't block airflow and doesn't *completely* block your dog from seeing through the sides. It's well built too. But unfortunately, in practice, it falls short. It may be worth noting that our dog is a 100 lb shepherd mix. According to the size chart, he needed the 2XL. The next size down might have been a better match in terms of circumference but would have been too short. The issue we had with the cone stems from what it's made of -- that mesh material. Sure, it lets air flow through. It lets a dog sort of see to the side and it's durable. It's even flexible. It's also very rough and very heavy. It weighs in at 1.15 pounds which might not seem like a lot. The problem is --- it's flexible. There are metal strips to give it some rigidity front to back but there's nothing to help it hold it's shape around your dog's face. And because it's heavy, it just collapses down across his eyes and his nose. Suddenly that heavy weight and rough texture makes that durable mesh less ideal. I suspect with a smaller size, this would be really a solid option. Which is why I didn't give it a lower review. It's worth evaluating -- it's well made. Unfortunately, it just doesn't scale to a large size well.
