Purchased these to replace our household's emergency candles and handful of tealights. I lack the necessary equipment to verify these are completely paraffin-free, but they are very soft at room temperature and the samples I dug out with a fingernail melted from the heat of my hand: this is consistent with palm oil (expected melting temp around 95F) rather than palm wax (melting temp over 120F) or paraffin wax (melting temp over 115F). These lit (and relit) easily with an electric plasma as well as a butane lighter. They burned with a steady flame and snuffed cleanly. The wick began to aggressively curl/self-trim immediately after lighting; the tiny wick dramatically limited the heat and light produced. While I think these will work just fine for my intended purposes, keep in mind that these tealights deform easily and will likely melt if left in a hot car, under direct sunlight, near a stove, et cetera. One of these, by itself, likely isn't bright enough to effectively illuminate an entire bathroom during power outages. These tealights don't smell like diesel exhaust, unlike the 8-hour emergency candles they're replacing, and they don't produce a column of visible smoke, in contrast with some of my other candles and tealights.

Got these along with a bunch of electrical power supplies so we’d be prepared for winter power outages. Don’t create a ton of light, but look nice and a you can see. Of course, now that we’re fully prepared, we haven’t lost power a single time this season!

Do waste your money or time. These are absolutely HORRIBLE! If are able to get them to burn, they will burn the middle ONLY ignoring the rest of the candle. They are supposed to burn for 4 hours. If you are lucky, they MIGHT burn for an hour or 2 at most.

There’s something comforting about having an emergency light backup in case of a power failure and the quality, quantity and value of these tea lights fit the bill!
