This telescope is a fun and interesting device. It's all rather lightweight stuff, and mostly plastic, but it's a complete kit, and the camera attachment works well. The main body looks like more than it really is - the body is all plastic, and the large lens hood is nearly 1/4 the length of the whole telescope, but doesn't add much to the viewing experience. On the other hand, the phone mount is all metal, and makes for a very secure connection. The eyepiece looks to be good quality as well. It has some sort of coating, too, as there are some green highlights to the lens. Also, I like the way that the camera mount screws down onto the eyepiece, clamping it in place. I might have to get a second eyepiece so I can quickly switch between the phone and viewing directly. The tripod is a mixed bag - the legs are sturdy and have good adjustments, but the rotating head is difficult to use. The tripod tends to stick, making precise adjustments awkward - you try to make a small movement, but the tripod sticks, so you nudge it a bit more, and it becomes unstuck, and overshoots the target. Nevertheless, it's still possible to get some interesting images.

I am reviewing Starboosa telescope, which at the time of this review was $119. Overall just a meh experience. The parts are all mostly very thin cheap plastic, with small set screws that are difficult to reach and tough to tighten/loosen as needed. The mounting plate for the scope has a difficult to reach thumb wheel underneath, which makes it difficult to tighten down the scope to the mounting plate. When using this outside in the cold (prime planet viewing!), something as simple as rotating the eye piece is difficult if you're wearing gloves because the tiny set screw is so short but also close to a bigger piece of plastic that you can't get your finger around it.The listing says it has "rock solid tripod stability" but my experience was the opposite. Just the tiniest bump would leave it shaking for several seconds, even with everything tightened as well as I could (without breaking things). Even just trying to get your eye aligned in the eyepiece creates a lot of movement. That alone is a big deal when you're trying to view tiny planets, nebula, etc.I will say the magnification is better than expected, but unfortunately it's marred by quite a bit of chromatic aberration, which leaves colored edges around brightly colored objects. If you buy this with some lowered expectations, I think you'll be ok, especially if you can find it on sale. But for me, I'll keep looking for better quality.

I got this for my 8 years old granddaughter for her birthday. I tested it out and it is perfect for her. Easy to put together and a pretty good view.

This was easy to set up but super hard to use. We were trying to see a few of the planets and we couldn't line things up. We used the phone mount and nothing. We even tried two different phone (iphone15 and S23) and nothing. This is not for the novice or even for the people who want to open it and use it that same day.The build quality is there but it didn't matter since we were not able to use it

I bought this telescope for my son two weeks ago. My son like this gift very much. He like to watch the moon at night. This telescope works very good. It is an excellent shopping for me. If you want to buy a gift for your kids, I recommend this for sure.

Definitely not a high end scope, but certainly pretty good as a beginner's scope. Compact, light, easy to carry. The housing for the scope might be made of plastic, I can't really tell if it's that or aluminum. Either way, it doesn't feel like a more expensive scope for sure. The included tripod seems to be carbon fiber or something similar, very light. It feels strong and is very light. It's easy enough to adjust and the phone mount for the scope isn't too bad, but it gets in the way if you have a newer phone. The scope itself is pretty clear, no strange color tinting that I could see. Good enough to look at the moon for sure. You might be able to get a kind of decent look at a large planet, but the scope isn't that large, so unlikely you're going to get something photo worthy. Pretty much have to a large scope for that.Biggest gripe with this is that it doesn't include a carrying bag. So many things that don't need bags come with them, and those bags aren't top quality at all, just something to hold your product. They could have easily done that at this price, so kind of a miss here.

Stargazing has become quite a pastime for us. Our family evenings have been enhanced by adding a telescope for my 7-year-old daughter, who has developed a keen interest in astronomy. Setting it up was straightforward with all components included and clear instructions provided. The telescope itself is well built, although the tripod it came with is a bit unstable. We found that replacing it with one we already owned greatly improved stability.Exploring the craters on the moon was truly captivating. Using the moon filter included helped reduce glare and revealed details not usually visible. Bringing it along on our camping trips has been fantastic due to its portable design. While the initial lenses are adequate, we did consider upgrading them. Despite these issues, it has added a new dimension of enjoyment and learning to our family's nighttime activities.

This telescope offers promise in its simple yet sturdy design but as expected still proves difficult to pull off dreamy stargazing results. The kit includes everything from lenses to tripods and a compact carry case. As a first-time telescope user, the results will most definitely vary between users and final setups. The fitting proved far easier than expected. Despite the number of connecting pieces and parts needing assembly, I was pleased to find much of the process was a plug-and-play system. The instructions avoided messing about, skipping past lengthy context and details, and moving straight to fitting the core components to build a working telescope. Within a few minutes, I had the telescope connected to the tripod, and the lenses inserted for night-time viewing. The telescope comes with a promising build quality and user-friendly function. The telescope remains compact, perfect for first-timers and kids, where it's neither overkill nor a mere small toy. The telescope comes with a carry bag which neatly stores everything inside to make it fully portable. I was particularly impressed by the provided tripod. It screws directly into the mounting plate on the telescope. Each leg comes with a satisfying rubber base that allows the pod to have a neat, flat, even standing position. For instance, I placed this outside on my concrete patio tiles and found it stood perfectly without wobble. Best of all, the tripod has an amazing height function. Winding the lever on the side allows you to extend the height, and then lock it in place by pushing it down. The entire setup comes with three different lens sizes - 4mm, 12.5mm and 20mm. This provides a means to get a wider picture or where needed, a more focused image.I waited the night and I eagerly got stargazing with this telescope. The instructions recommend downloading a stargazing app. For those who have never used such an app, I will quickly say they are phenomenal! You simply point you phone camera to the sky and the app will automatically calibrate and begin displaying constellations. As such, using your smartphone becomes an essential piece of equipment with this telescope to identify and adore the night sky.Unfortunately, I would be lying if I did not say I was unable to see a star. I waited for a few days and finally caught a clear night sky where I could see with my own eyes distant stars twinkling far far away. I readied my telescope, trying to position it in line with the star. I peeked down into the viewing lens and to much disappointment I could barely see a glimmer. I spent the next half an hour fiddling with the focus and changing positions but still nothing. I got see the night sky zoomed in but still no the star. I feel like I may be doing something wrong here. Nevertheless, if I am a newbie here trying to get this to work, I sense many others will encounter the same difficulty. After all, this compact telescope was intended to be easier to use - my usage says otherwise.
