I did not purchase for it's intended purpose. I wanted the telescoping rod with the 8mm bolt threading. I made a few other attachments for it like a small fishing net. I find the poles sturdiness a so-so. If fully extended and lifting something with the tip while holding the handle I would say 10 lbs may be straining it. The twist and lock is smooth but need to take care in keeping fine particulate out of it. Straight stabbing pressure is quite good but lining the whole pole up is the most ideal way to use any stick without breaking it.

Are use this for grabbing branches and grabbing my catfish lines from the water. I don’t know if I would recommend for big fish, especially salt water, but it does the job for what I need it for.

We used the gaff once and the harpoon piece fell of easily. Had to keep putting it back on. Finally solidified it with cement which make it harder to travel with. However, the gaff itself once we secured all pieces worked great.
