About this item

  • CONTROLS ALGAE: Helps prevent algae growth in ornamental water fountains and ponds.
  • SLOW RELEASE: Blocks fully dissolve slowly after about 10 days.
  • FOR CONTAINERIZED FOUNTAINS & PONDS: Not recommended for containers with live plants.
  • EASY TO USE: One block treats between 30 and 280 gallons of water.
  • CLEARS ALGAE BLOOMS: Each block dissolves to control algae and clear algae blooms.

TetraPond® Fountain Block® helps to clear cloudy water and control algae growth in ornamental fish ponds. These blocks are ideal for containerized ponds and fountains – not recommended for use with live plants. Use one TetraPond Fountain Block for water volumes between 100 gallons (380 L) and 250 gallons (950 L). For the initial dose, add one block for each 100 gallons (380 L) of pond/fountain water. For regular maintenance, replace block(s) after previous block(s) have fully dissolved, usually after 30 days. Algae are primitive plants that, via photosynthesis, combine water and carbon dioxide to form sugars for energy and growth. Algae can obscure colorful fish and deplete valuable oxygen. No pond is ever totally free of algae, but in a balanced environment and with the right treatment methods, algae can be kept in check. Since 1951, Tetra has developed the world’s most comprehensive body of fish food knowledge, and fishkeeping enthusiasts have looked to the brand for products and solutions that add ease and beauty to their home. Whether you're an experienced hobbyist or just starting out, Tetra has everything you need – from a large variety of quality fish food and innovative equipment to test kits and decor.

My small waterfall/pond was getting overrun by green algae. A friend recommended this product, so bought it and once in hand, dropped a single small block into the pond near the pump inlet. Within a few days, water was clear again, and within a few weeks, all the stones were clean again. Pretty amazing. The package label is a bit confusing though, because it shows pictures of fish on it, like for use in Koi pond, but fine print says it will kill fish and birds. Not sure about the actual dangers, but the newts we have running about during rain (and getting into the pond) have not diminished in number.

I’ve tried a few different products to keep my fountain clean some worked but a few days would go by and back to going green. One cube has been in my fountain for a month still crystal clear my wife is always amazed how well this works. I highly recommend buying this if u have a fountain

I used other liquid algae control to help fight algae in my fountain but none of them worked. I bought this hoping that it would help control the algae in my fountain, which gets a lot of sun. It works and it seems to last a long time in my fountain. I bought it last summer and I have enough to use for this summer too.

I put a small piece of one of these in my water fountain in the yard and it’s been over 30 days and water is still clear. I love this and I recommend it.

Does not work at all. My fountain is greener than when I put it in a few days ago.

I have had sooooo much headache with our wall fountain. Somewhere along the way we picked up a bacteria that took over our fountain. You have know idea what a mess it has been. The co. we bought the fountain from were puzzled also. One day while working on the mess I grabbed a sample bottle and scrapped it across the filter in the system which was once again plugged up with this slime. I then mailed this slime to the fountain co. and said "what it this and how do I get rid of it."That woke them up. I got a call from my "personal" rep. at the co. (She had received a call from who ever opened the bottle)They had it sent to the lab.The next call I got was to shut the whole system down, pitch all of the filters, bleach it out and keep the tank empty for at least 2 weeks. (I waited almost a month) Then they said to get TETRA and put a block in the tank when I refilled it. I used the regular products as always and added the block.Honestly, I have had NO MORE problems. Our water is sparkling clear, even our customers comment on it all of the time. For now, I would say that it had to be the TETRA since that is the only thing I did that was different. If it changes I will let everyone know but for now I don't hate the fountain anymore.Duckie
