Initially, I felt my fountain water was beyond fixing. I did not even try FounTec at that point and just wanted to start over. It may have worked fine but I did not want to waste time on what might have taken a long time to get a mediocre result.I found an article on how to clean a bird bath. First I poured out the old scummed up water. Next I added Oxiclean and Dawn dishwashing liquid detergent to a pail with several gallons of water. It is important to use oxygen bleach and not chlorine bleach as chlorine bleach is toxic to birds and pets. There is actually such a thing as a birdbath brush on Amazon so I got that. This got the fountain clean as new without a lot of work. I also bought a small inexpensive aquarium fish net on a wire frame that I use to remove debris whenever I add water to the fountain. I spend maybe fifteen minutes a week on this maintenance. My fountain is only 10 gallons so it may be a major job and not practical to do on the bigger ones out there.I have used FounTec every week since that initial cleaning. Because I do scoop out some very small algae debris every week, I use the amount specified to "clean" which is double the specified "maintenance" amount, but that is still only 10 drops. The water has stayed free of any significant accumulation of algae and Fountec clarifies the water so it has been absolutely crystal clear for close to two months now. The label also says it prevents mosquitoes. We have not seen any so it must work for that too.Compared to the mess we had after the first couple of months, we now have a refreshing water feature my wife loves. That makes me very satisfied and happy with the product.

I have a 5ft tall indoor water fountain that I've had for years. It still works great and still looks good. The nice soft sound of water is great and soothing but I hadn't ran it in months because I was tired of the process of cleaning it every 3 to 4 weeks. The water would always turn icky within a couple of weeks and normally by the end of the 3rd week it would develop an odor. I didn't mind cleaning the fountain during the spring and summer but it was terrible in the winter dealing with water outside when it's below freezing! I tried cleaning the fountain in my tub but i could t properly flush the internal hoses of all the gunk that built up from the icky water so I found that taking the fountain outside and flushing with a hosepipe worked best. I always debated over putting a few drops of bleach in the water but was always worried about the bleach breaking down the pump over time or worst breaking down the internal rubber hoses that couldn't be replaced so I dealt with cleaning.Back in November we had some unusually warmth days so I did some things around the house and decided to clean up the fountain. After I cleaned it I did a Google search to see what people recommended and I saw a few people mention a algaecide. I searched for one on Amazon but didn't know which one to buy but FounTec caught my eye because it said environmentally friendly. It arrived and I was shocked to see that it said one DROP per gallon. I put in two drops and ran the fountain..every week I put in two drops but I admittedly missed a couple of weeks in December. Well here we are at the 2 month mark and my fountain is still as clear and clean as it was the day I cleaned it. I stuck my hand in the water to see if it was icky or slimy and it wasn't. I am very impressed because at 2 drops a week this bottle will probably last me well over a year. I can't even tell I've been using the bottle for 2 months now, it's still full.I can't recommend this solutions enough. This stuff will allow me to skip cleaning my fountain during the winter. Heck I can probably hold off on cleaning until the summer! I'm sure the water will still be clean and crystal clear but it's good to take everything apart and clean and check it occasionally. Consider me highlights impressed. If you're having doubts about buying this product for your indoor fountain then stop! It's worth it and will cut down on how often you have to clean the fountain!

Overall, it works well, but I do notice some green on my rocks though & have to hose them off. I don't want to use too much because the birds & hummingbirds drink from the bubblers. Overall it has worked well though.

We have a 10 gallon fountain. 1 drop per gallon of water is all you need. Keeps the fountain water crystal clear and free of algae. The value is great because an 8oz bottle will last you for quite some time, months maybe years. It works almost instantly as within hours the water was clear.

But unfortunately I still see a lot of allergy so. It does not work that well. It works but I think I'll go with another product next time

The initial treatment worked within just a few days to rid my fountain of visible algae and has kept it away with just a few drops of product occasionally since that time. Keeps everything looking good, working well, and flowing smoothly! Definitely keeps the pump clean and in better shape and the filters built into the fountain in good shape. Great product! Buy it!

My bird bath fountain was gathering green mould/slime every few days, necessitating frequent scrubbing out. Found this reviewed on Amazon - why, I wonder, is it not available from a UK source? Arrived from Amercia in 8 days. Extremely economical (despite the high delivery cost) needing only one drop each week. No green mould or slime since I started using it. I am delighted.

Bought this after reading positive reviews, andirons does just what it promises. It worked in just over an hour without cleaning the 7ft fountain. It is economical as you only need a drop a week maintenance.my only thing was the expensive postage as it isn't available in the uk and has to come from America but it arrived really quickly. Would recommend it to anyone.

I have been using this in two self contained fountains which in the past have suffered from algae. One of the fountains is in the garden and in good weather, gets the sun on it all morning. The bowl is quite large and so I have been using about five drops of fountec each week and it has worked very well. The other fountain is in a conservatory and uses a significantly smaller amount of water and is shielded a bit by roof shades. Since using Fountec it fares better than previously. However, after a few weeks there was evidence of some algae beginning to get a hold. But the Fountec does seem to have slowed it down a bit

This stuff really works - since the day we started putting the drops in, it's stayed crystal clear - not a single sign of any 'green'. I would highly recommend it.
