This is a quality product. If you ever used the Intel socket 1700 CPU buckles you will appreciate this item. It's the same idea. It fits the AMD AM5 CPUs. It takes the place of the spring arm securement lock the motherboards come with. You just remove the original 4 torx head screws holding the OEM securement mechanism to the motherboard. Place the CPU over the pin pad and simply place this piece over it, Then gently screw it down with the Torx tool it comes with or your own if it's better for you. It's easy. The result is a CPU that is held in place more evenly. This results in a flatter CPU surface and better/flatter contact with the heatsink for increased/more uniform heat transfer. I really appreciate these things because they make a difference of a few degrees C. Sometimes that's all you need. And it's not expensive.

I know there’s a lot of reviews saying that it’s just aesthetics but for a few, this actually makes a big improvement.Before I installed this, I was gaming on my same rig with the same air cooler. One noticeable part was that the cooler sat on the IHS at a convex with the pump out towards the outer edges. Removing the stock retaining bracket freed the tension that held it at a convex. What are the results?With the same heat spread technique and same thermal paste, I went from 65-67c on my 7950x down to 60-61c on the same game and same settings. After a week, the temperatures remain the same. I have yet to remove the cooler to see if it seats perfectly square but that’s for another update.As of now, I do not need to worry about too much paste spilling outwards. The corrector plate blocks majority of that.Is it worth it? To me it does. And it also looks sexy on my x670 aorus elite ax
