I'm a detailer and sometimes people couldn't care less about the integrity of their hood struts, so I bought this and it works like a champ. It's well made and I can't tell a difference between it and the ones the techs buy off of the truck.

Brilliant little tool stopping the strut collapsing and hitting you in the back - which is painful. Ok if your car buy new struts but for working on other people's car this is perfect and doea not damage the strut

I’ve been working on cars for 8 years and finally decided to get this after being clocked in the back of the head by a 911 engine compartment lid. It works just as intended. I ended up getting a couple more for the shop.

Works exactly like it is designed. The perfect solution. There are some that cost less with the same mechanical function but this is cosmetically a lot cleaner looking.

We work on many old cars and consequently have weak hood struts. If you have an engine holder attached and the hood goes down, you are going to have a bad time... this saves any frustration and a very easy tool to install and remove.

Several years ago, I purchased one of these for work and I liked it a lot. I found myself needing a second one, so I purchased this one, and I am very disappointed to discover it’s made significantly cheaper. The body is smaller, the set screw is thinner, and even the flag is Now made from a laminated paper. The quality is so poor that I went to the Thexton website and did some digging and found out that it’s not a knock off - just a drop in quality, presumably to save money. Hopefully, this thing will be capable of doing the job and not allow a hood to come crashing down on top of my head.
