  • 3/4 violin

Dominant series violin strings are one of the most widely-used synthetic strings. A highly flexible, multi-strand nylon core makes these comparable in sound and feel to natural gut. The E string is aluminum/steel or plain steel, ball or loop end.

These are a very good quality set of strings for the violin. These were used to replace the strings on my 11-year old son's violin. An instant improvement in the tonal quality was noticeable. The new strings need to be tuned often till they age a bit, but the quality of sound produced makes that worthwhile.

Very dependable strings. When in doubt, these strings are a good backup until you figure out what kinds of sounds you want your instrument to have. Just your average run-of-the mill strings!

My sister gave my son her old West German student violin from the 1970s. She changed the strings only once in the mid-70's, but those SuperSensetive steel strings just had to go.I could have replaced them with another set of SuperSensetives Steels but I was goinmg to put some good strings on a free instrument which saved me money anyway. I looked at reviews and reccommendations from several websites which lead me to make the decision to purchase this set ot THomastik Dominant Strings. My son has classmates with rented instruments and of course they mostly would be fitted with the long-lasting steel strings. But, I know that my son will not be using this 3/4 size violin for more than two years so the Dominants would last long enough and he would produce a better tone than his mates. His strings teacher was impressed with the tone his violin makes, and some of it should be credited to the Thomastik Dominant strings. Now if it could only improve on my son's accuracy in fingering...

The strings are exactly what we expected - good sounds and great for student violinists!

The Dominant strings sets the standard for synthetic violin strings, being one of the first to be marketed. It works well on many different types of violins since it is pretty decent, predictable and gives a middle of the road tone. When it is new, there is a slight metallic feel, but that goes away after it is stretched out. Some people like the metallic feel and insist on new Dominants. They do take a few days to settle in though and last about 2-3 months. They feel supple under the finger and are not high tension strings. They start out on the bright side with good overtones but then they go dull. The E string is just ordinary, and many people substitute a different E string (such as Pirastro Gold). In fact Dominant sells sets with just the G, D, and A.

Solid long lasting strings but not for me. I like how durable these strings are. They have lasted far beyond when I wanted them to last. Like when the goldfish you won at a carnival lives 6 years and you want to upgrade your aquarium to some other fish. I feel like that about these strings. They have lasted forever, but I hate the sound of the g and e strings. The d and a strings sound good on my violin (Scott cao 3/4). I really hate the g string sound. Loath it. Wish it would break so I could rationalize putting a different set on. The e string is too sharp, whiny. That being said every violin is different, so I'm sure these strings will be perfect for someone. At least if it's on a student instrument, these strings will be better than the typical horrible cheap strings that come on some of them. And they will be likely to last forever. They do seem to stay very well in tune on my instrument on the upside. I have had enough of them and even though they just won't die, I'm putting other strings on.

Nice sound. Does not break or wear easily, only a bit pricey. Both teacher and daughter like it. Love Prime shipping
