This kit saved me on an unexpected repair to an engine job I was working on. Priced much lower than a name brand Heli Coil kit, and shipped fast. It was a size not commonly stocked local to me, and those that did have them were 3 times the price at least.

I bought the M6-1.0 because I knew I had stripped two bolts on my water pump on my 2009 Forester. When it came time to replace it I bought this and a torque wrench, worked perfectly. It was also used on the valve cover bolts as the lower 6 get very rusty; I removed 2 bolts easily, 2 bolts with a nut extractor, and 2 bolts had to be drilled out and the threads repaired with this kit. 6 new bolts (upper 6 bolts are fine to reuse) and holds very strongly. I used with blue loctite; waited for the loctite to dry in the helicoils before installing the actual bolts.

Fixed stripped auto exhaust stud threads. Welcome outcome as 40 yr cyl heads are expensive relative to the thread kit price.My first thread repair, this went pretty smoothly for a newbie.Only hiccup was the drill bit jammed in the aluminum head, and the drill motor spun out of my hand and onto the floor. Lucky for me the drill motor and bit was fine as was the cylinder head.Repair was completed and the thread stood up to the high end of factory service manual torque spec.Exhaust manifold leak fixed. For me, the kit earned it's keep in a single job.One use and I can't vouch for durability so 4 stars instead of 5, but believe for my needs it will turn out to be a '5' given more time.

Needed to fix M10 x 1.5 threads in a cast iron exhaust manifold. Three holes, each about 1/2" deep. Using lots of tapping lubricant, started the tap into the first hole. It was surprisingly hard to turn (normally cast iron threads like butter). Got about halfway into the hole and it got so hard to turn it was clear the tap would break. Ground a new taper on the tap (to get to new threads) and it went a few more turns. Repeated the grinding and eventually coaxed it to finish one hole.Just out of curiosity, I bought a second identical kit, hoping I just got a bad tap. HA! Second kit was worse. Two turns of the tap and it gave up....would not go any farther.So I ordered up a tap from McMaster-Carr. Ah, what a difference. Now I could turn the tap with one hand. Sailed through two holes without slowing down in the slightest.The inserts and the insertion tool in this kit worked fine.The tap does appear to be made of HSS as claimed. I think it just isn't made right, probably not sharpened properly.I note that most of the positive reviews mention "aluminum". This kit might be OK in a softer metal.

Easy to use and instructions are straightforward. I used this kit to install on 2007 Acura RDX knock sensor bung hole stripped. Acura Dealer and other Asian car specialist repair would not try to do a repair and all wanted to replace engine. I decided between this and timecert kit. Decided to get this due to helicoil is more forgiving than timecert in drilling error. By the way I’m only a YouTube certified mechanic( meaning I learn by watching YouTube. ) I watch a few videos before I pulled the trigger and do it my self. Worst thing I can do is screw up and buy a used engine. Main thing to do is prep the area make sure you have clearance to use a drill. Bit was sharp and cut the hole like butter. Also I already have cutting oil. So it help alot since my engine is an aluminum block. I used a brake cleaner to blow out cuttings and clean the hole. After that I used the provided cutting tool with oil and used a drill cutter bit at a very low speed. It took me ten minutes to finished making new threads due to you can only do this once . Slow is fast and fast is slow . Every four revolution I take out it back out and clean the hole and tool. After that installed the helicoil with tool and broke the piece with supplied punch. First initial threading of sensor was tight but with a little persuasion it went in with a ratcheting. Tension was better than the OEM threads. I didn’t have to use locktite or any thread lock . This kit save me a lot of money. By the way I only used one coil and I probably will never need to use it again.

Bought to repair some damaged threaded holes on my aluminum heads for my Toyota. This kit worked super slick and I ended up having to repose 2 additional holes in my transmission houses as well. Saved me $$$ from having to use a meahcine shop to repair otherwise

The set is suppose to be 15 pieces, right now I have 10 pieces of helicoil and no tool.
