The price may be steeper than a helicoil, however, the materials are much much better. I got this after stripping out the bolt hole for a timing belt tensioner idler for a 96 Subaru Legacy, which literally removed the threads in a coil at about 26 foot lbs, "Pop!" (Supposed to be about 26-32 foot lbs tension.)I did not have enough room to use a drill without removing the EJ22 engine from the vehicle, but this was not an issue. The rear end of the drill bit came with the same square fitting used for the tap and die. I used the tap wrench to run the drill bit. This was harder than a drill, however, completed the job fine and I was able to run the tap right after. At first I was worried I would get it slightly crooked, which did not happen. Everything is together, and torqued to spec at 30 foot lbs.The quality of the drill bit is superior. The Tap is of great quality. The threaded insert was easy to install, and now has a solid feel to it.This is a great kit, and would recommend that it gets used instead of killing off the car in a junk yard.

Fantastic! It literally took me about 5 minutes to put this in and it worked great! The cost is a little steep for fixing one stripped hole but it was for the clogged idler pulley on a Subaru and I didn't want to take chances. Quick, solid fix!

I purchased this kit after inspecting an engine block that I was about to install in a customers car. The person that previously owned the engine had somehow stripped all of the threaded holes of the transmission bell housing. I wanted to deliver a good product so I chose this TimeSert kit over a standard "coil" type thread repair. Overall, the sold insert is superior in every aspect. I would also highly recommend using a "tap socket" to ensure the hole is tapped straight and make it that much better. I would recommend this product wherever strength is needed, and it is also definitely worth the extra money as compared to other type of thread repair kits.

Good product if you ever get a bad part and the thing isn't lining up as advertised then you strip out threads.Only thing is the shank bit drilled a bit deeper than I expected. If you buy this to repair threads make sure you measure the hole depth after running the bevel into it!A common mistake would be to measure your stripped out hole then order a time sert the same size! Order a size 1/2 the depth so you dont wind up with it hanging out. Thanks

I purchased this to fix one of the chain adjuster threaded holes on my 2006 KTM 450EXC - I forgot to coat the new bolt I put in with neverseize and the aluminum and steel bolt galvanic corroded and when I went to take out the bolt the threads stripped. I didn't want one of the "buddy" kits that just uses a bolt plate to let the bolt float in the hole to repair this. The drill bit was very sharp. All the tools in the kit have a tap end (square drive). I bought a set of tap sockets to allow me to use my ratchet on the tap and insert tool. I had to figure out how to get the drill bit into the hole since the swing arm recess is long. I used a 9mm 12-sided socket to drive the drill bit - carefully guiding to make sure it was straight. After that it was easy to use the shouldering tool and tap. Since I have the tap socket I had no issue reaching the hole using an ratchet extension. The insert went in painlessly and the new bolt was liberally coated with neverseize. This is not a high torque installation - the bolt is just used to set the axle distance to lessen chain slack - the axle bolt holds the swing arm in place.

Fast shipping and worked well for what I needed! While changing the timing belt on my 2005 Civic, the tensioner bolt threads stripped out of the block when I tried to torque the bolt to the specified value. This set allowed me to drill and tap for the included insert to restore the threads. It has a drill, tap, and install tool that have square drive ends made to be used with a straight tap wrench. The set worked good!

This product worked perfectly and has (almost) everything you need to replace threads. You need to buy a tap wrench/handle to use this kit. The short drill bit included was perfect for working in a tight engine bay. I was able to rethread my tensioner pulley bolt threads on my Gen 7 Honda Civic with this kit and turned everything by hand no problem. I gave 4/5 stars because shipping was s-l-o-o-o-w.
