This is the best hand shovel I have ever used. I have very hard clay and this is the only shovel that I can use to make a hole. I use the ‘rake’ part to remove the mulch. I then can use 2 hands to push shovel straight down. If dividing bulbs, the long handle gives me the leverage to dig up bulbs. Even when the bulbs are really implanted in the ground and I use all my strength, this tool has never broker. I have had many hand shovels break and am happy that this tool has not broken over the 10 years of use to plant thousands of bulbs and plants.

I had a Trake hand tool for more than 10 years, and it finally broke. I replaced it in March 2023 with a new one because I loved the tool so much, and it was super durable. In Sept. 2023 the tip broke, which was very disappointing. I called Tierra Garden customer support, and the same day they shipped me out a new one free of charge. Now, that's awesome customer service, and a company that stands behind their product.

Purchased this as a gift for a "new gardener" in the family! :)I have had a "trake of my own" for appx 20 years. It is a great garden tool. Sturdy, two tools in one so you don't have to keep up with more than you actually need going from bed to bed. I have expected a lot when digging, transplanting or weeding and it has delivered!!Whoever designed this was a "Gardening Genius!"Order it - you will not be disappointed.

I love these garden trakes. I have used them for many years. However, I recently purchased 2 new ones, as my old ones (I had 2), one broke in half and the other lost the tip of the spade. Granted that was after many years of use. Now for the new ones, I noticed yesterday that the tip of the spade on one had already broken off. Not sure what type of metal they are using on the new Trakes, but I don't think they are quite as sturdy as the older models. Also, I am not using these other than for digging weeds, and planting flowers.
