About this item

  • Designed for use with spark generating ignition tools like the Spark-Lite firestarter or ferro rods, the Tinder-Quik tab also works well with matches, lighters, flint strikers, etc.
  • Simply pull the compressed cotton tab apart, ignite it, and add kindling. Tinder-Quik tabs burn for 60 seconds or more even in harsh environments, greatly increasing fire-building success rates.
  • These are the same tabs included in military aviator survival kits, and are popular for downed pilot and backcountry professional survival kits around the world.
  • Windproof, waterproof TinderQuik compressed cotton tinder tabs ignite easily, even on damp windy days.
  • Manufactured in the USA. Complies with Berry Amendment.

I've done all the tricks, they all work but have drawbacks. This is simple, high surface area, and lights quickly with appropriate heat. Note: for cooler spark of actual flint with steel you'll still want charcloth to catch that spark. Would likely be difficult, as usual, but probably would ignite given the patience. Plenty in the bag to practice but you can always get a larger pack they add no weight and can take as many as you wish

Slick little flame extenders. They take a spark from a ferro rod well so long as you pull the fibers apart and make a little nest before attempting to light it. It's the sort of thing that could make the difference between having a fire and not when conditions are not ideal. I keep a few in my backpack and in my emergency 10-essentials dayhike kit.

These work brilliantly as an emergency tinder source. Just fluff up one end and hit it with sparks from a ferro rod, or a quick touch of flame from a lighter, and the TenderQuik ignites and burns for a good long time (2 minutes or so). Much less messy and easier to store/carry than the old cotton ball with petroleum jelly trick, and works as well if not better. I put some into cut pieces of plastic straw which get the ends melted to seal, makes them easy to organize and carry in a kit (I did the same with the cotton balls but needed larger diameter straws).

These are ok for what they are. They are small and compact item. I think you can make or find cheaper alternatives. I don't regret buying them. They're not something I would use on a regular basis. These are an emergency use item. I keep 5 or 6 of them in each of my emergency fire kits.

Excellent! You can spend half this much for 8 to 12 at a box store or outdoor retailer. These are the exact same thing in a waterproof bag that can be reused. Extremely light weight so you can throw the whole thing in your emergency kit and not notice the weight. I cut them in half and still am able to easily get a fire started. These light in 1-2 strikes with a ferro rod and are even easier to light with matches or a lighter

This tinder is my "go to" tinder. It is a small, waxed-cotton type that is dependable. This tinder lasts about 2 minutes, at most, once it is lit. While I use another, similar, longer-lasting, brand for extended outings this is my main pack-in tinder for bush craft and camping.

Perfect for any camping or emergency kit, I haven’t experienced any duds yet. I keep them in a zip lock for extra moisture protection. They stay lit for about 5 minutes.I went through a pack in about a year, well worth the costs.
