This is a really cool idea. The accessories attach to y our cajon using velcro and add some extra sounds similar to how washboard players often have bells or blocks on their washboards. It's great because you can easily remove them for transport and they attach in seconds. Cool kit.

Since getting a cajon a year or so ago, I have had my eye on various accessory percussion pieces that I knew existed, but had never tried. When this came up, it seemed like a great opportunity to try out a bunch of them. This comes with a foot tambourine, a long hand shaker, two sizes/tones of castanets, and a block with tambourine jingles. It takes a bit of effort to figure out just where you want to place these things with the velcro attachments, but it is quite handy to have easy access to some different timbres while playing the cajon besides the ones available on the drum itself. It does take a little bit more coordination to stomp your foot or shake a shaker while doing everything else, but it's a fun challenge, and it's only a short-term challenge. I do like the sound of these add-ons, but I also might look for stickers or something to put over the images, because they are not quite my style (I might have preferred a plain set, myself), but I will keep using them just the same.

Admittedly, at first we weren't sure about exactly what to do with this box of cajon accessories. The castanets sounded okay and my partner, who is the real percussionist in the house, was underwhelmed.However, later in the evening he got to attaching the two castanets and the tambourine to one of his cajons (using the adhesive velcro) in strategic places and that is when the real magic happened. These are well-designed to work with your cajon to make even more sounds with lots of variations. Once you get a rhythm going, the foot tambourine adds to your play; the shaker is a unique shape to get used to but has great sound.He went from being unsure exactly how to use everything and being underwhelmed to playing loudly into the evening.Since the attachable accessories are held on by velcro, you can easily remove them when you want to play just the pure sound of your cajon.We are happy with what we thought at first was simply a "cute" box of accessories--they turned out to be a worthy addition to our musical instruments.
