I'm in a rental, and the lousy plastic bolts on my seat stripped out on me. Found these, decided to try them out. It was much easier to leave the screw in the rubber boot, and then use the screw to force the boot into the roughly 3/8" hole the bolts had been in. I was worried about damaging them, but with a bit of massaging of the bulb in the middle, and pushing on the head of the screw, they slid into place nicely. Now I use a TUSHY bidet, and just putting the screws in normally, they don't reach. If you just reach under, and push the bottom of the rubber up to meet the screw, the internal brass insert will be able to catch, and then it works just fine, hardly any effort needed, and they are SOLID.

I used the rubber expansion nuts with the built-in thread insert. The holes in the toilet base are ½†and it worked great. It took about 5 minutes to install.

The toilet in our master bathroom presents very limited access to the nuts under the seat. Every time the seat bolts worked loose, I struggled to get a wrench on the nuts and consequently I could never get the hold down bolt quite tight enough. I searched high and low for an expansion nut that is installed from the top of the toilet basin. These assemblies are just what the doctor ordered. I just installed the expansion nut from the top, placed the seat, tightened the bolts and voila, problem solved! High quality, easy install and great Prime 2-day delivery make this outstanding value for the price. I will definitely buy again for the other bathroom in my home.

Installed the black rubber expansion bolts from the package and they hold the toilet seat pretty well. The seat moves some but springs back.

I have been struggling to keep my toilet seat from wiggling lose and the plastic screws just weren’t cutting it. I looked these up and they are the perfect solution! I hated having to put my hand under the toilet to hold the other part while I screwed the top. With this I don’t need to and it so much better I guarantee it!! It was a bit hard getting it in the hole but once in, it was all downhill! Highly recommend

These will not fit the holes in one piece Kohler toilets. The Kohler holes are 3/8" these bolts are 1/2". They simply will not fit. K-85040, K-84999 are the original Kohler parts. The aluminum expansion originals are very very expensive and they are not as good as simple 3/8" rubber well nuts. The original Kohler design is very poor, short lived, and expensive. Just use proper 3/8" well nuts.
