Why do I need to replace the shift linkage?

This is a nice well made kit. Installation was straight forward and the kit is better than the stock multi piece linkage. The only thing I noticed is that the set screws only are seated in couple threads. Before securing them with some thread locker I ground a couple flats in the rod so the set screws could sit all the way in the threads.

I am working on a 1970 F100 with a 460/C6 combo, so this is a custom build. I had a few parts left over from this kit and I did have to modify the rod to make it a little shorter. I had to find a couple of bolts that were a little longer than what was provided in this kit, but that was to be expected since my build is custom. The parts provided were definitely quality with the exception of the little Allen screws provided for locking in the SS rod. One Allen screw balled on me and I had to find a replacement screw to take its place. Otherwise, it got the job done!

Seriously think this a the exact same as the Lokar products just 1/4 the price. Only issue I had was the rod was too short for me

It looks like there are a few vendors selling a similar kit but the trans arm included with this kit is infinitely adjustable and billet aluminum . The shift rod appears to be stainless steel and can be polished to a high luster. This a very nice kit and would be perfect for an aftermarket steering column.I'm using this for a project other than a transmission. Price, convenience, and quality, all in one package.

Used on a 1992 Chevy c1500 with a 6.0 LS swap using a 4L80E. Had to grind some notches in the rod for the set screws to bite into. Is universal so no real instructions so trial and error is the way. Took me a few hours to bend the rod just right and get all the adjustments set correctly. Decent kit for the cost.
