I have a lot of health issues and use a walking stick when I am walking on anything other than pavement because I am at risk of falling. I bought this for travel and it is awesome, folds small enough to fit in a personal item, and is light and stable if you follow the video instructions posted by another user to assemble it. I brought it on a trip recently and had no problems outbound, but on the way home I was pulled aside by TSA, who informed me it is illegal to have a walking stick in your carry on luggage and they confiscated it (google "TSA walking stick" and you will see--Amazon won't let me post the link). As far as I can tell, a walking stick is deemed "medically necessary" if you are USING it when you go through security (and place it through the scanner directly) but if it is IN your carry on luggage, then you run the risk of a TSA agent who likes rules taking it away. In my case it is actually medically necessary, I was just looking for travel convenience, but this guy wasn't having it because I don't look overtly sick. Planning to buy another (because it is that good), may get a doctor's note, and will always have it OUT of my luggage through security.

Bought two of these--one for me, one for my husband--ahead of a trip to Italy. We used them in Pompei. SO glad we had them, as they helped immensely, providing stability while walking on the rocky, uneven roads and helping us get up and down the steep curbs in that remarkable place. Felt sturdy and reliable. They folded up neatly into a carrying case and went into a backpack--their weight barely noticeable. We will use them for all hikes and travel going forward.

I took this on a moderately tough 4-day hiking trip, here's what I found.First, note this is ONE pole, not a set of two.PROS:- Collapses small enough to fit in any carry-on size luggage, backpack, or even a larger purse.- The 3 pieces are yoked together and reassemble with absolutely minimal effort- No issues getting this through security in my carry-on in 3 different countries.- Incredibly lightweight. Noticibly lighter than my other light telescoping poles (which won't fit in my carry-on).- Reliably supported as much weight as I wanted to put on it, and at any angle over uneven terrainCONS:- Couldn't get the basket or rubber stopper to attach with any level of integrity and lost both on a single (rocky) hike.- If it gets wedged between rocks and you try to yank it out, the bottom part will sometimes detach instead of coming loose and you need to stop and free it.- Shortest setting is good for someone at or taller than about 5 feet. Might be too long for younger kids.Overall, I think the (also inexpensive) telescoping poles I have are higher quality, but for trip with significant air travel involved, this pole did the trick, and I recommend it if you want to carry a pole or walking stick with you and not worry about losing it if your checked luggage doesn't make it.

This was a great purchase! It’s sturdy and so convenient to be able to fold. I just leave mine in the car so it will be available to use if I will be walking when I reach my destination. I love it!

I needed a folding walking pole that I could pack in a carry on bag. I was a little suspicious since the pole was very light weight but it was easy to fold. It served me well on my trio to the Galapagos and in the end I was very grateful for the lightweight pole. You could extend the pole so it was perfect for any height. Great little pole at a reasonable price.

I ordered this Walkingstick, because I am going on a bus trip where we will do quite a bit of walking. Since I am elderly, I feel I need something to keep me steady when walking a distance or on uneven ground. From the moment I opened it, I have been pleased. It is the perfect size, easy to fold up and place in my bag and is light weight enough that it doesn’t make my bag heavy.. It is also sturdy enough that I feel very comfortable using it while I’m walking on gravel. I am 5 ft 2 in and don’t have to extend the length, but if I did, it is easy to do!
