This lens has a reputation for needing a tripod adapter due to weight. Also a reputation for needing a special type, I looked at pictures with an adapter then noticed the protrusions.The proof is in the pudding so I will shoot withit soon to see if the attachment is reliable and does not damage the lens

Nicely made and robust... but does not fit my Nikon AF FX NIKKOR 80-200mm f/2.8D ED. Not even close, so there must be multiple models of this lens and I have the wrong one.
