I got this for my larger tripod with a gimbal head that I use with my longer telephoto lenses. It's a real hassle to get it completely level, so this makes it easy. Set up the tripod and adjust the leveling base. My gimbal head has a big bubble level on it so it's a bit easier to see than the one on the base. The quality of the base overall is good, basically a ball and socket with a lockdown ring. I think I will get one for my other mid range tripod as well.

This works fine with my video fluid head for panoramic photography. It will be great for video too when you need level shots. The unit is solid and easy to use.

I’ve seen a lot of good reviews for this brand, but this leveling base is a terrible product. It’s smooth, but that’s about it.The locking lever is a short throw, but that limits the clamping/tightening potential of the bowl. Mine kept coming loose to where I could move it WHILE LOCKED fairly easily. No way I’d put an expensive camera on top of this - period.You CAN disassemble it and tighten it down, but it’s a pain and the required tools aren’t included. Additionally, mine came loose again and again. My options were a paperweight or trash. I opted for the latter.I totally get this could be an anomaly, but I can only review it based on that experience.If you’re looking for a quality, affordable, leveling base, I HIGHLY recommend the Koolehaoda version. I can rock a Sony FF body on a 200-600mm lens without moving when tightly locked.

I shoot off-road races and stopped using a tripod because of the time required adjusting tripod legs, anchored in desert sand. Adding this to my tripod allows quick final leveling of the tripod so that a level camera pan is assured. I typically shoot with a Nikon Z6ii camera with a 300mm prime lens; this mount handles the weight with no issues.

It was decent in the beginning but became looser over time. Don’t buy this!There isn’t any support other than suggestions to tighten screws and nobody to talk too.If there is tech support than please get in touch with me.
