I am also using this in my house to terminate all the CAT6 runs from the rooms. I built a custom "media panel" in the closet where I pull all the power and media lines to a central location and mounted this patch panel in there for a clean look. The back of this panel has very clear marking to indicate each connection and its proper wiring just like a CAT6 keystone so it is fairly easy to use. You will need a punch down tool but those come pretty cheap on amazon. I have been using this one from Cable Matters: http://amzn.com/B0072K1QHMI wasn't in love with how the white mounting plate attaches to the patch panel face, but that is most likely because of the way I wanted to install it flush against the face of my media plate. I would have preferred screw holes in the face of the patch panel and in fact I may just drill my own holes in the face plate to simplify the mounting, leaving the white bracket out of the equation all together. For differing applications the mounting bracket would probably be less of a hindrance. I am also only using 8 of the 12 ports due to my gigabit switch only having 8 ports. Here are the supplies I used to built my media infrastructure:Keystone plates = http://amzn.com/B006IKGHVC and http://amzn.com/B006IKHAZYBlank Keystone = http://amzn.com/B006IKH0EACat6 Keystone = http://amzn.com/B004D5PFGWHDMI Keystone = http://amzn.com/B0039L3P86Coax Keystone = http://amzn.com/B003099HOICat6 Cable = http://amzn.com/B0049KV52E (the cable this review is written in)Coax Cable = http://amzn.com/B0069F4H3GCoax Right Angle Adapters = http://amzn.com/B00DUW3Y7GCoax Powered Splitter = http://amzn.com/B000WDR94UWall Mounted patch panel = http://amzn.com/B000HZES42Cat6 Crimp connectors = http://amzn.com/B00BS92DCAStrain Relief Boots = http://amzn.com/B000I20B86Crimp Tool = http://amzn.com/B0000AZK4GPunch Down Tool = http://amzn.com/B0072K1QHMCoax Crimp Tools = http://amzn.com/B003J7YOTO

Very nice, compact and extremely easy to punch wires down into. Great product, I smile each time I look at it doing it's job very well. It's also well designed and actually helps you get the wiring correct. Get at least 1!

This patch panel is very good. The product feels durable all the way around. It's got a good weight and seems to be built to be able to withstand a lot of cable punches. I'm currently using it for my home wiring and It's given me no problems. Only recommendation is to be prepared with a lot of zip ties to hold all you're cables in order.

This was a nice modular patch panel to work with and it tested out great with the new cabling I was installing. The labeling was clear and the installation was a breeze with the included wall-mount. Wires seated easily and firmly with my 110 tool and a single punch to each wire.

I recently wired the entire basement with cat 6 cable and was looking to get a patch panel to connect everything to. I was originally thinking of getting a hubbel or a panduit 12 port patch panel but those where a little bit too expensive. However, I came across this and I do not regret purchasing it. It feels like a high quality patch panel and does what its suppose to do. Not much more to say other than it's a great product for its price.

This item worked as advertised and was easy to use and mount to the wall. Perfect form factor for a small home or office installation. I did, however, manage to crack the plastic on it while working with it so the face plate basically pops off the mounting bracket. Doesn't stop it from working and it gets walled up in a basement closet anyway so not a huge deal, but kind of annoying that it snapped that easily.

I purchased this to install it in my attic. I ran my existing lines up to it and then left a set of instructions for my contractor to run new lines from an addition of my house. This worked well and I only had to do a little re-work (mostly explaning to my contractor that I was running network line for computers all over my house - is this really that uncommon?) to get up and running. Now I have the flexibility to change where the outlets connect if I ever want to switch out how everything works without re-running the lines.

This product is not titled correctly. This patch panel is not a feedthrough. A Feedthrough panel has RJ-45 ports on both sides, this does not. This product has RJ-45 ports on the front side and punch downs on the other side. On the Tripp Lite site, this product is described correctly as "12-Port Cat6 Wall-Mount Vertical 110 Patch Panel".

As specified and well worth it to clean up the rats nest in the basement.

This is one of only a few, limited options, I could find online at a reasonable price for a CAT6 patch panel that didn't have too few or too many ports, didn't break the bank, and comes with a standalone wall mount bracket. When I purchased it, I wasn't planning on getting a rack and just wanted to mount it to a plywood panel mounted over studs in my old boiler room I'm converting into a network closet - there just isn't much out there that will mount to a wall instead of a rack without needing to purchase an exorbitantly priced simple 1U wall bracket.Punching down the cabling was easy enough, it uses standard 110 terminals and any punch down tool with a 110 blade will work fine (get one that at least has a cutting side so it's nice and clean). It took a bit of extra force to punch some of the tighter pairs down but it could have been my inexpensive punch down tool more than anything else. The terminal blocks are well labeled with both T568A and T568B diagrams right on the unit, of which choosing one really doesn't matter as long as you make sure both ends of the cable are punched down the same way. While not the sturdiest thing in the world, it does the job and doesn't require anything more than a place to mount it with two screws. The only issue I have with it and why I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 is that there isn't really any great way of supporting the cables nicely once you've punched down. It just gives you a twist tie down point at the top and bottom and I felt like the cables were still tugging on the block when I had to leave the panel hanging.

This item does not work with any of my (4 different brands) rj45 connectors. All of the connectors are slightly too large to fit into the ports on the patch panel. However, all of my factory-made patch cables plugged into it with no problem.Because of this I wasn't able to use my spool of cable or bags of connectors and had to purchase new patch cables instead.I could have returned the item and tried another brand, but needed to get the network up and running asap. Other items either had long ship times or were off name brands which I didn't trust.Otherwise, I think this is a good product. it worked well in my configuration.
