My first trip through TSA security ended up with them pulling my carry-on over to be searched. What were they looking for - this TSA approved wine cork remover! What a hoot! I said I just bought it and it's "TSA approved!" The security officer found it, removed it from the box it was still in and then started chuckling because its says in bold red lettering "TSA Approved"! He called other officers over to look at it. None of them had seen it before. They let me keep it and we moved on. Interestingly, I had purchased one for my husband and he had it in his carry-on bag, but they didn't stop and search his bag!!Ironically enough, on the return flight, my bag with the TSA Approved bottle opener in it sailed right through TSA security.... but.... my husband's bag got stopped for search! Once again they zeroed in on the TSA Approved cork remover. This time the agents had seen it before, and they let my husband keep it and move along. Bottomline, the device works fine, but don't count on getting through TSA security without them having to search your carry-on bag!

I was skeptical carrying this through airport security, but they didn’t even look twice. I have bought a few as gifts and everyone reports zero issues with security. A great travel essential.

This will work. My longtime corkscrew that I’ve traveled with for many years was confiscated this last trip. I didn’t realize it was a dangerous tool on an airplane, but apparently it is. Happy to know that this was available and works just perfectly. Hopefully I will be able to avoid having it Confiscated.

This wine opener is as advertised, it doesn’t have the regular knife foil cutter and therefore is TSA approved. It does however still show up in the scans as a wine opener prompting the TSA agents to have to manually inspect it each time at the check point. And I have TSA Pre-check. So it does not save time going through TSA check points. Each time, it took additional time for the TSA agents to manually check the opener. Pro is it is TSA compliant so they won’t confiscate it. So there’s value in that. The con is it will take longer at TSA check points for them to inspect it. I thought it would be obviously TSA compliant without the additional time for manual inspection. I plan to put it in my checked luggage in the future.

I got stopped on my way back from my vacation for a "random" search. Not sure why they didn't come out and say it. They pulled it specifically to see if it had a blade in it. It was not confiscated.

The tool is fine.TSA compliant on the handle does not matter.Security in the Cayman Islands took it from me. Said it was a Homeland Security issue. No sense in arguing. No problem leaving the US with it in my carry-on.No problems in BVI or Bahamas coming home.If you fly enough, you will have issues with this corkscrew.Sorry.

Love it. The cutter for wine foil is nicer than a knife. This is the perfect travel wine opener!

The perfect bottle opener if you are planning a flight.

Whelp. We knew it was a bit of a gamble taking it through security outside of the US, but we hoped it would be ok, because it’s technically allowed through the TSA. I’m afraid Albanian security would not let it pass. Obviously, pointing out that it is TSA approved did not help. Bummer

We flew from Canada to Ireland no problem. Went to Turkey and on our first local flight got it confiscated, not because of anything to do with the cutter, but because of the corkscrew itself. So, just beware, it doesn’t help for all countries.
