There is a correct way to orient the Manet to the sensor. A review was written using a ferrous magnet and the orientation of the magnet was incorrect. The field of the magnet is weakest on the side and therefore would reduce the ‘sensitivity’ of the sensor. If they would have used either flat side of the magnet the field strength would increase and the detection distance would have been greater. In addition, a neodymium magnet has a higher field strength than a ferrous based magnet thereby increasing the detection distance. These devices have about a 10mm ( ~3/8â€) detection distance maximum. I have used these in several applications using a neodymium magnet and run about a 5mm (~3/16â€) gap. Works great on the application running around 1,000 RPM. So take it for what it’s worth, a great little sensor package.WORD OF CAUTION: This sensor is sensitive tp the magnet orientation. North versus South Pole. The magnets are NOT market and the only way to know which side of the magnet will cause the sensor to trip is to hook one up and check the light on the back of the unit. You only need to hook up BROWN to Positive and BLUE to Negative. Use a small 12 VDC battery and pass the fat side of the magnet close to the sensor end. If the light on the back does not come on then flip the magnet over and try again. Verify which side of the magnet will cause the sensor to 'trip' and mark it so you know which side to present to the sensor.

Wish the range was a little longer. Cats can shake the wheel running and the gap widens a bit too far to count correctly.

Product does not work as described. This switch only works with a magnet, and then only when the magnet faces the switch with the correct pole. This switch does not detect metals or metalized objects, as claimed in the description. Also, the output voltage of the signal line does not match the power supply voltage to the switch. I used 5V as input voltage, the output voltage on the signal line was 3.5V - it should be 5V. The description misrepresents what this switch does. Getting returned to sender.

This is a great Hall Effect! It is enclosed well and it was easy to mount. I needed to control the lights under a cover on my truck so that when you open it up the light comes on. Worked great

When correctly used this device is excellent and well worth it

I admit I fired the first one but the second one I ordered I noticed the LED was dim when detecting a magnet. Two minutes into testing my Arduino code, it stopped working altogether. Voltage from Uno was 5 v (within Hall effect's parameters) and amperage was whatever the hall effect needed, nothing else was attached to the board.

Tried using it as a geartooth sensor but it didn’t work at sllReplace with cherry sensor works perfectly
