This lock is solid and if you want to use it on your AR15, you will need to put some hand (fingers) pressure on both sides of the lock to secure it in place. Once in place, it's a good fit and appears it would take extended work to remove the lock without the key, especially if you didn't want to do damage to the trigger guard and possibly the trigger itself. Good value, worth the money!

These trigger locks are perfect for my rifles. They are very secure and easy to install over the trigger. The retractable pins ensure that you will have a configuration that works for your trigger layout. Very solid, metal construction that would not be easy to remove without the key. Having multiple locks that use the same key is a huge bonus as well. Recommended for anyone who has rifles and children in the house.

It has been quite a while since I bought these, so I do not remember how there were initially advertised. They were very good for safely and securely attaching the revolvers I had first bought them for in an additionally locked display case.I sold those revolvers and these locks went into storage. Then a friend was talking about buying these to lock his AR style guns.I thought I'd just give him these. We tried them out. With the design of the trigger guard on all three different guns, (S&W, JRC, and Silver Eagle) the locks could not be secured effectively.I never tried them on a semi pistol, just the revolvers, so I can't speak to those either.But they were fine for five different Colt "snake" revolvers.
