Remove back cover
Remove all partitions and items behind the refrigerator to locate the fan motor.

Remove the old motor
Carefully unplug and remove the old motor.

Replace rubber cover
Swap the rubber casing on the outside of the old motor to the new motor.

Replace with new fan
Install the new fan motor carefully and check whether the plug is installed properly.
-
recovery back cover
After the fan is installed, restore the refrigerator partition to its original state, done.

I have a GE side by side with the freezer drawer on the bottom(GGD28GELCDS). Freezer was working fine but the fridge was only cool. After some serious research I found that this fan could be the culprit & for the price it was a chance I'd willingly take. Installation was so easy! Remove the drawers and trays pop out some screws & the cover and there it in the back of the fridge. Undo the clamp remove the old fan, snap in the new one & reassemble things. Fan is quietly working and the fridge is back to normal.

Bought this based on reviews and price, but after replacing the fan, it was louder than the original it was replacing when it was running in its quietest mode. The original fan was fairly quiet, but would sometimes get exceedingly loud. This replacement fan was not very quiet once installed and, like the original, would sometimes get quite loud. I noticed there are a number of these fans for sale and most show a make label of Nidec, some made in Vietnam and some made in China. I returned this fan and replaced it with one that came in a GE Appliances box and had much better ratings. Installed that one today and it is much quieter.

Super easy to install. Refrigerator stopped cooling but freezer worked great and was getting ice build up on bottom of refrigerator. Cause - fan stopped working and would not circulate cold air into refrigerator. Did youtube to learn how to access fan and when fan arrived it took less than 5 minutes to install and now the refrigerator is very quiet and cooling perfectly. Would recommend

A bit misleading with their advertising, this does not match the original OEM fan I pulled out, but if fits perfect and works well. It is a bit noisier than the original fan, but that's because the old fan wasn't spinning fast enough to properly cool everything on the top shelves. Now my fridge stays cool evenly throughout, so I'm happy.

My original fan was not seized up and would not turn on when it was supposed to. This resulted in my food getting warm and some going to waste. Installed this new fan and the problem is fixed. Saved a bunch of $$ over calling a repairman or replacing the refrigerator. Ver happy
