Finding a USB to serial converter that work well for the provided console cables is always a little hit or miss. Sometimes just finding the driver is a headache. with these cables, just plug it into the USB port and windows recognizes it immediately. No drivers to download, just plug it in and Putty or SecureCRT sees it and I am able to go right to work.

Edit: The seller reached out to me and gave me a full refund, a year after my purchase. Great customer service, and I probably just received a defective unit. I will probably purchase another cable from this seller since their customer service is on point.I bought this product to occasionally connect to my networking equipment's console ports. I used it once in May of last year, then once a few days ago with no issue. Today, I plugged in the cable to my computer's USB port and it was not detected. I tried several different ports and even a different computer but could not get it to work. Between uses I kept the cable neatly coiled up in the same manner as it was shipped, inside the original bag. I was not abusive to the cable in any way, so I do not see why it broke so quickly.

As a network engineer, I buy alot of console cables. Encountered broken clips and bent USB. So far, this one has lasted the longest. Definitely due to the snagless clip. I'm still careful when working and not just throwing it in my bag. But so far the best.....definitely would buy again but hopefully with a USB C connection.

Worked great out of the box for connecting to a network switch. Drivers installed automatically on win 10, and connected up using putty with no issues. The USB end is a bit bulky, but thats where the chip is so it is to be expected.

Might be a one off thing,but I bought 2 of these cables to use with my ASI AIR PLUS. I plugged it in, and within a minute smoke came pouring out of the cable, burned a hole in it. I yanked it out. Difnt seem to damage my ASI Air.

This cable was purchased from Amazon to connect an AziAir Plus mini controller to Skywatcher AziGTi EQ modified astrophotography tracking mount. Usually the mount is operated by wifi but to avoid problems with that dropping out I prefer the use of the cable which is of good quality and less expensive than local Astro stores. There are other benefits in not running the mount In station mode etc but the main thing is a reliable connection without using the wifi.
