We got this for our 7 year old girl. It is easy enough to get started but has room to grow into and get more complex.It is very well built. All mechanisms are smooth and well machined.

we have only had it a week, so i may not know everything. i spent weeks looking at different microscopes and obviously chose this one. it had the most ideal features, and a fair price for the quality at around $100.first impression.heavy, solid, affordable, stylish and user friendly design. not a toy!metal body, plastic knobs, glass and metal objectives and eyepieces- 25x and 2x barlow, which work well. the longer objective compresses to avoid cracking slides or scratching the lens.the rotating eyepiece is a bit stiff for young kids, but is pretty smooth to turn. both leds are bright enough, and adjustable. it has a fixed single lens abbe condenser, important for clear viewing.we bought a generic 48pc set of prepared plastic slides and they work well for our 1st grader. the color wheel makes viewing some slides much easier. *one of the major points i was looking for was the color filter to avoid using stains as much as possible.the focus knobs are in tandem, i had hoped for one fine, one course, but it's all together. this is good enough, not perfect, but probably will be adequate through middle school. i like having a choice between a/c plug or battery power. have not tried with batteries yet.it comes with some accessories like prepared and blank slides, slide prep kit, and phone adaptor which handled our samsungs just fine. it arrived in perfect condition in 2 or 3 days with prime.what i don't like, i wish course/fine knobs were separate, as i said. it does not come with a case. it should, it really really should. we found a padded gun case and plastic tool box for a temporary solution. a mechanical stage would be nice, but is fine for our little one as is. it was missing a piece (camera adaptor we purchased one locally yesterday, same exact one pictured in this listing) and Amazon issued a partial refund to compensate.we bought the following add ons through other vendors, a few books on microscope use, an amscope cleaning and iq crew prep kits, the generic prepared plastic slides, ajax blank plastic slides and covers, and amscope iq crew activity cards, and a dedicated journal to draw what we see.very happy.definitely recommend.i will add that i don't have much experience with microscopes, and haven't compared it side by side with other brands/types.but my kid loves it! santa did good!

Ordered one, missing 10x eyepiece.Replacement came, missing 10x eyepiece.As someone who has used microscopes in the past, it's actually the lowered powered eyepieces that are the most useful. Am extremely disappointed in this package and the false advertising.

I purchased the microscope for my granddaugther for Christmas. It arrived quickly and well packaged. I checked it over and tried the microscope. Very pleased with the quality and performance for such good price. I look forward to seeing my granddaughter's surprise on Christmas day! Es el segundo microscopio que compro para mi hijo de 7 años.Los Reyes le trajeron uno, con el que era imposible enfocar, con piezas de plástico ... y por su cumple le hemos regalado este.¡¡Qué cambio!! Es robusto y de buena calidad. Las ruedas para enfocar van suaves y son muy precisas.Se enchufa a la red para una mejor iluminación, y va fenomenal.Viene con varias muestras de tejidos, muy chulos, al menos para nivel principiante.Los diferentes aumentos, cambian mucho lo que se ve de cada muestra.Muy buen regalo. Despierta su curiosidad. Miramos granos de azúcar, especias, arena, migas de pan, ... todo lo que se os ocurra.No sé si será "nivel profesional" pero para estudiantes de primaria-secundaria creo que sirve de sobra.Sin duda lo recomiendo.

L'ho comprato per regalo per mio nipote di 7 anni. Prodotto conforme alla descrizione. Non è un giocattolo ma neanche un oggetto professionale, una via di mezzo. Il microscopio è di facile utilizzo, bello esteticamente e di buona fattura.

Everything works out of box as expected. Great product for the price. Has lots of tools as well. The phone piece is hard to use with modern phones, but everything else is great!
