I bought these to attach 'stuff' to a plastic out-door shed. Such as an electric cable box, door latch, etc. They are excellent for attaching threads to thin plastic sheeting. There are several advantages to being aluminum.1) They take a lot less force to attach. This is especially good for the smaller sizes like 6-32.2) They can be drilled out easier.3) they don't corrode as easily.I even use them in wood. They are superior to regular wood screws in many cases..

As long as you go into this knowing these are aluminum and don't expect to hold a ton on force, they are awesome. Good size consistency, very low installation effort, with the one caveat being that they are easy to overtighten when installing (an inherent drawback of aluminum). If you're the hulk, or expect to put significant load on them, go steel. For ease of use in light-duty applications, these aluminum RivNuts are awesome.

outer rim is smaller than image suggests so be very careful on your drill hole sizeotherwise worked well
