I needed a couple of these quickly and the price was right, but I should have gone with my usual suppliers and just waited. These came in a baggie that looked like it had been through the ringer and the thin pins were pretty bent up. After installing one, I found it to be difficult to properly insert a new chip. I made it work, but I’ve learned my lesson.

I bought these to use with a breadboard, but they pop out. The chip stays in the breadboard better without this socket. I only kept them in case I use them on a PCB, which they seem ok for.

They are good for the price….fitted boards nice an soldered up, no problems. A plastic socket that takes a 16pin ic chip, that all slotted in well. I would buy again without thought.

I bought lots of these in bulk many years ago from a different supplier but recently ran out. I ordered these as replacements and they're exactly the same as the ones I used previously. Not a super interesting item but essential for placing IC's in DIY projects because you really don't want IC's to get hot and melt before you've even used them, plus you can always uninstall your IC's out of these sockets later and re-use them if you decide to upgrade your project board or just need the IC's for a new project at short notice.
