Item does not come pre cut for a wedge nor does it come with a wedge. Oh well. It is not formed up well so if you don’t have wood working tools it will be a return item as this probably should have been. I would not recommend this item. Had to give it 1 star, should get none

Handle itself is decent, dense wood. Size is for a small axe and is too large for a hatchet without a lot of trimming and shaping.

This handle is NOT hickory or even Ash. Instead it made out of a “mystery†light-weight and unknown wood - perhaps some variety of pine. Whatever wood it actually may be, it is wholly unsuitable for use a replacement ax handle. However, it burned nicely in my campfire.

Looks solid enough and without flaws,, but,, The grain pattern is all wrong for a woodlot banger,,, this however will be used for a wall-hanger,, no harm-no foul,,, THIS time

Handle came all scratched up and with dents all over it. It feels incredibly light. Don’t waste the money!!

This is not much more than a piece of wood. The axe fitting end is not shaped/sanded, nor is it sloted to accept the axe head. It will involve a lot of work to complete a proper install. I absolutely don't recommend this Chinese product.
