Removing the air from an open wine bottle is the only way to keep a good wine from oxidizing. If (god forbid) you're unable to finish it in one sitting! Even just overnight, it makes a big difference!The Vacu Vin is fast, easy.

I have redone my experiment several times and updated my rating and review accordingly (original review at the end).Tips for success:* Bottle should be stored upright. Regardless of product description, storing on the side will let the liquid loosen the seal and the bottle will eventually leak.* Spirits store better than wine, which both keep much better than other fermented drinks such as champagne, brut, or beer, whose built-up gasses weaken the vacuum seal over time.* Keep pumping until it becomes physically hard to continue. The click trigger timing varies by device, but happens way before ideal vacuum state. (You can weigh the bottle with a very sensitive scale to see this.) Sometimes I'd have to keep pumping through 20 or so clicks before there was little enough oxygen left that it got painful to keep pumping. Good workout to counteract the calories 😆* Use laboratory grade parafilm over the mouth/top of the bottle after vacuum sealing. This greatly locks in the seal and extends the vacuum time.Using the above tips, the quality of the beverage sealed is really quite amazingly preserved weeks after opening. I will update this review after some bottles I've sealed have been stored for months this way.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Original review:---------------------------------------Product doesn't work at all really. I bought 4 identical bottles of wine and drank half of 3 of them, then sealed them with: a cork, the Vacu Vin vacuum seal, and the Vacu Vin vacuum seal with stretch cling wrap over the top and reinforced with rubber bands. A couple weekends later, I tried all 3 and compared them to the 4th, unopened bottle.Results:Cork only: best taste and still had some gas build up upon uncorkingVacu Vin only: leaked and tasted so awful that I'll use the rest for cookingVacu Vin with stretch wrap, rubber bands: decent and preserved most of the taste, but cork alone was betterConclusion: unless you're saving wine for a few hours later, Vacu Vin is all hype and no quality. I challenge the positive reviewers here to repeat my experiment with their favorite wine to see for themselves.

I was skeptical at first, but after researching online for a quality solution to keeping wine fresh, I bought the Vacu Vin system.It works great! An opened wine bottle easily sits for a couple of days now and maintains its flavor and freshness. We don't don't drink expensive wine - but we don't drink cheap stuff either. Really happy with this solution.

very good pump and does a great job. I use this brand for many years. Recently I left one in a restaurant. So bought a new one as the replacement.

This device really works. It saves the opened bottle of wine for at least a few days. It’s very useful especially for someone who only has a glass of wine at dinner and not the whole bottle.

I vacu sealed a wine for two weeks, and it was just like when I opened it. Quite remarkable. Not kidding. (normally I don't take two weeks to drink a bottle of wine, it was a test).

Easy to use and works! After 2-3 days its not anymore worth. If bottle is more than 60% empty, its good for one day keeping. It wont remove 100% air, therefore less Wine in the bottle, more little air in, so this device lose efficiency.Its used in lot of restaurant aswell. It works, but is not à miracle device.
